Instead, Eddie got shot and learned that aliens were real.

Summary
Eddie frowns even as he gets up to check. No one is supposed to visit him, no one even knows where he lives; it’s not like he invites his co-workers over, or the folks he hangs out with at the basketball court. No one knows it’s his birthday.
There is a kid on the other side of his door. Skinny and rugged with his blond curls and his coat in disarray, keeping himself upright on crutches. The kid looks up through thick rimmed glasses and asks, “Edmundo Diaz?”
“Eddie,” he corrects, absent-minded.
It seems to be the right answer. The boy smirks. “Ten years ago, did you give a baby up for adoption?”
“Uh. How do you…”
“That was me. My name’s Chris, I’m your son.”___
