Finney smiles; bloodless and terrible. “You’ll die here, alone and afraid.” He says aloud, his baseball bat gleaming in the dark, metallic and intimidating. “And I won’t lose a wink of sleep tonight.”
If The Grabber said any last words, Finney didn’t hear them. In between one heart-stopping moment and the next, his bat made a thwack as it bashed against the skull of sad, little Albert.
It’s there, in the dark, blood splattered against his cheek, the still body of Albert laying at his feet, and bat in hand— that he starts to laugh.
Or, Finn comes back in time, remembering pretty much everything. It goes about as well as expected.
