“She’s not dead.” Percy wasn’t in denial when the words came out of his mouth. He knew Estelle was alive. He could taste the dry cookie in back of his throat despite not having eaten in hours. The taste reminded Percy of those cookies people bought during the holiday. The ones in those Christmas styled round containers with a bunch of plain cookies in them. The thing was if Estelle had been kidnapped why feed her cookies of all things?
Wherever she was being held had some source of fire in order for her to be able to sacrifice. Though maybe a candle could be used to create a sacrifice. Percy didn’t know but he would be finding out.
“You can’t know that,” Annabeth said and he could hear from her voice how distraught she was. “Percy, your mom identified her body.”
“It’s not her.” Percy told her and a part of him wished he wouldn’t have to explain. They lived in a world of gods and monsters. A world where many years ago Artemis had transformed a deer into the appearance of Agamemnon’s daughter to save Iphigenia. They lived in a world where gods could change their appearance and even trick other gods by their ability to shapeshift; Zeus had raped his own daughter by pretending his brother after all.

For a moment, the dim lighting casts a soft haze that almost washes away some of Will's exhaustion. His previously paled face seems to have regained some warmth, the harsh lines and dark circles under his eyes softened, and Nico watches as his gaze sweeps across the room with a quiet curiosity. His gaze linger on the poster wall, scanning the eclectic mix in silence before quirking an eyebrow in Nico’s direction.
“You like musicals?”
Nico’s scowling before he even realizes it, arms crossing over his chest. “Shut up, Solace.”
Will squints at him curiously, a small smile tugging across his lips. “I didn’t even say anything. It’s just a question.”
Rolling his eyes, Nico turns his back on him, grabbing a pile of something off the floor and tossing it toward his closet with a dull thud. “Well, I just think some of them are neat. I’m not some weird theater kid or whatever.”
He hears a soft chuckle at the defense, and when Nico glances back, Will is now leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed, looking much more at ease. “Aw, damn. And here I was thinking you were gonna sing me a little serenade for the night.”

Percy knew exactly why Mom and Paul had been called to come to school. Estelle had picked a fight with a classmate. The thing was he wanted the principle to explain what was going on himself. Estelle didn’t pick fights for shits and giggles. His sister got into fights when someone she loved was threatened.
(If Percy had taught her how to properly throw a punch that was between the two of them.)
And here was the thing. There was no other kid or a kid’s parents in the room. It was only Percy and Estelle in the office. So, yeah, Percy wanted the principle to explain in his own words what had occurred.
“Your sister attacked a student today. Michael Gates has a broken nose. Estelle Blofis is going to be suspended for her actions and needs to write an apologize letter.” The principle told Percy as he picked at his nails. His nails didn’t have dirt underneath them and they were short already.
