He paused just outside her doorstep, not bothering to look at her as he waited.
“How–how did you find me? Today?”
He stood silently with his back to her for so long she thought he didn’t intend to answer.
“I don’t know,” he said finally, his voice low. “The pain was…intolerable. I could feel your magic screaming for mine and I apparated without thinking. Somehow I ended up here. I don’t know what happened.”
He kept walking then, turning on his heel the second he reached the sidewalk, disapparating with a crack.
