Hakuryuu realizes that the past isn’t as far away as it seemed, in more ways then one. So while you are undoubtedly the best of it, nothing comes without its opposite. (In this case; while your shining light is a sort of beacon of the best of his person and life, and both of you are happy to see one another; the opposite is blinding trauma and it's resulting trust issues.. ouch.) The past comes with consequences, oftentimes messy bindings that require untangling. For him, and for you.

he may be the king between the two of them, but sinbad was a sailor before anything, and he knows how to spot polaris when he sees it. he trusts ja'far to guide him to the ends of the earth and back, and knows that he will follow. sinbad wants to build paradise? well, ja'far's freckles are made of honey and taste like whiskey, and he knows enough about pleasure to know what that means.
in other words: sinbad's hopelessly in love with his grand vizier and vice versa so he waxes three thousand words worth of poetry about it.
