Summary
Azula would call Suki a thorn in her side, but that would almost acknowledge her as a major irritation. One she can't handle. No, Suki is more like a tiny wooden splinter wedged underneath her fingernail. Embedded too deep to remove. Just an annoyance to ignore and forget about.
Suki visits Azula once a month while she's in exile. Azula hates it.
(She doesn't)

Summary
In AD Curtis's AU fic, The Hand that Rocks the Cradle, Aang was captured by the Fire Nation and raised there. Azula orchestrates an engagement between herself and the airbender, even though Aang has fallen in love with his waterbending teacher, Katara. When Ozai tries to kill Aang, Azula stabs him in the back, and Aang escapes with Katara.
In this sequel, Azula takes up her crown, despite her fractured mind. She plots against Katara, trying in vain to win Aang's love. Slowly, through many setbacks and humiliations, she begins to heal, and become the Fire Lord the world needs. Captain Raiden of the Royal Guard, a member of the White Lotus, supports Azula throughout this journey, as she learns what it means to let go.
This is an Azula redemption story.

Summary
Azula and Jiéshí lived in two different worlds. Azula, the fallen Fire Nation Princess. Jiéshí, a mere fisherman. As if by fate, they crossed paths when all hope was lost.
Excerpt:
"Azula knelt before her broken mirror, staring tear-stricken at her shattered image. She shuddered. Despite having no glass shards in her skin, pain rattled her very core. Moments before, she saw her mother standing behind her, saying sweet nothings, things that she always wanted her to say instead of those distorted glares and scowls reserved for her and never Zuko. Her body was solid, sweet voice so clear. Azula swore she even smelt her mother's lotus perfume. But that was impossible."

Summary
Sokka's expression is caught somewhere between determined and pissed off when he says, “I know you think this is your responsibility. But you’re not going to be alone in this. This is why we’re building you a council.”
“I know,” Zuko says.
“And the only way you’re going to die having done nothing but sit in meetings is if you let yourself do that. You’re not a bad leader if you take a break now and then.”
Zuko scowls. “What, so people can then say at least my father wasn’t lazy?”
Sokka tilts his head. “Don’t you think there’s a difference between laziness and, I don’t know, choosing life and happiness in spite of a terrible dad who tried to take both from you?”
----------
Zuko is sixteen years old when he’s handed a crown, a throne, and a hundred-year ancestral legacy of colonial imperialism. He’s not scared of the work; he’s scared of being consumed by the responsibilities and burdens he’s claimed. What Zuko doesn’t quite realize, yet, is that he’s not alone in this.
