Hey, everyone! Welcome to another one of my rewrites nobody asked for! Recently, I watched the Anastasia musical with my mom, sister, and grandma, and while I enjoyed it, I definitely think it could've been better. Particularly, I think the omission of Rasputin and the fantasy elements was kind of a misstep. I also thought this would be an excellent opportunity to try to address the pro-imperialist propaganda in both the movie and musical. I'm not claiming my attempt was perfect, but I hope y'all can at least appreciate the effort. And finally, please keep in mind that this is basically just my dumb fanfiction, and it's perfectly fine if you don't agree with some of my ideas. No hate to the musical fans is intended

The Legend of Anastasia is a Pygmalion tale that discusses Russian history and the nuances, ups, and downs of Imperial and Soviet politics in the early 20th century. This is a rewrite and movie adaptation script of Anastasia the musical and the original 1952 French play Anastasia by Marcelle Maurette. I also took inspiration from different aspects of the Anastasia plays, films, ballets, the operetta, and stage musicals (Hartford, Broadway, the North American tours, replica and non-replica productions around the world, & one regional production). I know normal movie scripts don’t have this much description, this is just have I’m visualizing it. I hope that you enjoy it.

You can imagine what the Soviets are dealing with.
But you come across a short paper, it’s a memoir from the late Grand Duchess, Anastasia Romanov, otherwise known as “Anne Stacy” in this article. But as you read, you discover something…rather, unpleasant.
What’s going on? What’s with all the legends about Rasputin? Why hasn’t been documented before, why is it only ticking up further by every passing minute now? Find out. Is this man even human at all?
