Summary
She had found that repeating the same doomed tragedy over and over again was less painful than dealing with the aftermath. Although sweetness turned sour and relationships became null and void, she replayed the same ballad, clinging to the occasional beam of light that seeped through the muck.
Within all of her lifetimes, each one a singular month long, few of them had been kind. There were kind people within them, but all kindness eventually became drowned out by rough hands and even sharper absolutes.
All except for one simple act of understanding. The demon had never felt understood before. She had never fallen under the gaze of another and saw that they looked into her, not through as though she wasn't even there.
So she closed her eyes, though demons needed no sleep, and lived that month once again. She had fallen into her damnation long ago. Recollection was kinder than reality, and god, was reality cruel.
Or, Homura reminisces on one peculiar timeline where things were almost okay and the sun shone brightly.
Or or, I give Homura a miniature healing arc because she deserves it <3
