Note on 1/7/2024: hi, so as you may see it's been a while since the last update. Rest assured, this fic isn't dead. If you're somehow unaware (or have just discovered this fic), I'm making side stories that flesh out Ash's training and rise to strength (among other topics that have been or will be mentioned in this fic). I'm doing this since I'm writing a cliched fanfiction that typically suffers two big faults that I wish to alleviate: trivial betrayal (and even that is lampshaded) as well as sudden (and often unexplained) rise to strength. I will return to this (and delete this note) once I'm done with what I'm working on.
