At the end of the group’s journey through Kanto, May ultimately decides that she does not need to find her own style of Coordinating and that the battle oriented style she learned from Ash is just fine. She can always learn new things and adapt as she sees fit without having to be on her own.
Because of this, she decides to continue traveling with Ash.
This would be a rewrite of how I would make the Pokémon anime look if May was made a permanent character alongside Ash.
