Summary
After putting an end to his... hiatus, for lack of a better word, Akechi reunites with the Phantom Thieves to work towards a common goal of reverting their manipulated reality back to its original state. Finding himself spending an excessive amount of time alone with Akira, Akechi is left feeling vexed and endlessly angry over his inability to understand why Akira is so compassionate and forgiving towards him--a murderer.
Akira, of course, is (unintentionally) the cause of most of Akechi's inner turmoil. The littlest things, such as being spoken to softly or touched gently by Akira were enough to send him into a mental spiral of confusion and disconcertion.
Though he would never admit it, perhaps this is what he needed--what he has desired for so long; to be cared for. A connection based on genuinity rather than artificiality.
TL;DR it’s the third semester and akechi and akira are gay as fuck to put it bluntly

Those words rang inside of Ren’s head for months. Any mention of the detective only made them toll louder, louder, louder, toning out anything else said.
December came, Yaldobaolth went, and Ren was stopped by Sae on his way back to Leblanc. She asked him to turn himself into the police as Joker and explain what the Metaverse was and how he utilized it. Time seemed to slow at that moment as he heard that voice saying something new. No more were the phrases it said repeated in a loop but instead replaced by something new.“Oh, there will be no need for that.”
It felt as if he was still in the Metaverse, again, seeing that stupid tan blazer with the brown-black pants and striped tie. His hair seemed just as soft as it was on November 20th. As if he didn’t even think of entering the engine room. Ren couldn’t hear the conversation Sae and Akechi had, choosing only to softly add, “You’re alive..” and nothing more. Too many thoughts racing through his mind to coordinate his body.
