never go where they go

you gasp and rush to his side. “what’s the matter, babe?” you question with immediate concern. he turns to you and sighs. “i might have lost something important. since it was in my pocket, i thought it needed to be placed there.” he replies calmly, although you can tell he’s internally panicking with the way he sounded nervous and anxious.

“wait what?” you clutch his forearms and try not to scoff. “what was that–”

“sir, we’re checking our security cameras right now. you can step aside and wait as we look for the box.” the personnel assures maki, then his hand directs you two to the side where there are vacant metal seats.

both of you head to the said area. as you take a seat, his gentle dark orbs turn to you and he squeezes your hand firmly. “i’m so sorry, babe. i really shouldn’t–”

“why, you don’t have to apologize. we're gonna wait for that important thing, okay? we have like an hour before we board anyway.”

“i know you wanted to try that overpriced coffee that’s only sold here in this airport.”

you giggle and shake your head. you cup his face, thumbs smoothing his jaw and then you squish him lightly. he grins and exhales at your actions. “i can wait. don’t worry about it.”

he takes your hand in his and tangles his fingers with yours. “thank you, babe.”

as you wait for about ten minutes, the personnel approaches your area and hands maki a small black jewellery box. “we found it, sir. we advise that you secure it in your carry on bag next time.”

while you’re busy watching something on the phone, oblivious to what’s happening, maki rises quickly from his seat and acknowledges the personnel. before the officer returns to his station, unexpectedly, he finds your seated form next to maki, then turns to him again. he chuckles and nods at your man. “good luck, sir.” he whispers. the taller man smiles and nods back, mouthing a “thank you” to the personnel.

still checking if you’re still on the phone, he turns his back to you to bury the small box inside his bag, ensuring that it won’t get lost again. why he placed it on his pocket, he thought of doing something grand at the airport, but it’s probably not a good idea anymore. he’d definitely save it on one of your sight-seeing destinations or in a restaurant instead. he mentally notes to double check later the itinerary that you prepared.

after he carries his backpack, he pats your shoulder with care and offers you his hand. “babe, we’re clear now. shall we?”

you’ve been lost in the documentary you’re watching until maki’s voice pulls you back to real life. (which is a relief.) you lock your phone right away and place it in your bag. you gaze up to see your dashing sharp-dressed man (you're used to seeing him in smart casual anyway), smirking and eyes sparkling for some reason. your cheeks suddenly tint pink. you swear that gaze never fails to make your heart rate go up. with a big smile, you get up and take his hand.

i wanna thank YOU for being here! honestly, i never planned to share my stuff on a tumblr account. but at some point, a voice in my head was like, maybe you should give it a try? test the waters and stuff to see if there's an audience. and well, here we are!

my stuff (i'm reluctant to say "my works" lol i'm not too confident to say that) aren't as polished as most of the fics out there, but i keep trying to improve anyway. writing has never been easy! i used to think it's simply threading words together and ta-da, we're done! but nope.

anyway, enough of the technicalities. despite being a small account, you guys still noticed it and for that, i'm still grateful. your presence means a lot! (don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, whether online or offline!) it’s amazing that we're all in love with 2d characters who are passionate about playing basketball (and pleasing their crushes lol). so thank you, thank you!! for being a part of this journey on tumblr! i appreciate each of you for taking the time to read my stuff. i'm also grateful for the interactions we've had, whether it's a conversation or a simple like/reblog.🙇🏻‍♀️
