     Penelope Evelyn was born on 3 October 1672 at Long Ditton, Surrey, EnglandG.1 She was the daughter of Sir Edward Evelyn, 1st and last Bt. and Mary Balam.1 She married Sir Joseph Alston, 3d Bt., son of Sir Joseph Alston, 2nd Bt. and Elizabeth Thompson, on 23 June 1690 at Long Ditton, Surrey, EnglandG.1 She died on 22 June 1714 at age 41.1 She was buried on 28 June 1714 at Long Ditton, Surrey, EnglandG.1
     From 23 June 1690, her married name became Alston.1

     Sir Edward Evelyn, 1st and last Bt. was born on 25 January 1625/26.2 He was the son of Sir Thomas Evelyn and Anne Gold.2 He married Mary Balam, daughter of Charles Balam, on 15 September 1659.2 He died on 3 May 1692 at age 66.2
     He was appointed Knight on 13 September 1676.2 He was created 1st Baronet Evelyn, of Long Ditton, Surrey [England] on 16 February 1682/83.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Surrey between 1685 and 1687.2

     Mary Balam was the daughter of Charles Balam.1 She married Sir Edward Evelyn, 1st and last Bt., son of Sir Thomas Evelyn and Anne Gold, on 15 September 1659.2 She died circa 7 July 1696.2 She was buried on 10 July 1696.2
     From 15 September 1659, her married name became Evelyn.2

     Hon. Charlotte Mordaunt was the daughter of John Mordaunt, 1st Viscount Mordaunt of Avalon and Elizabeth Carey.1 She married Sir Joseph Alston, 3d Bt., son of Sir Joseph Alston, 2nd Bt. and Elizabeth Thompson, after 1714.1 She died between June 1716 and 1720.1

John Mordaunt, 1st Viscount Mordaunt of Avalon1

     John Mordaunt, 1st Viscount Mordaunt of Avalon was born on 18 June 1626.2 He was the son of John Mordaunt, 1st Earl of Peterborough and Elizabeth Howard.3 He married Elizabeth Carey, daughter of Hon. Thomas Carey and Margaret Smith, circa 1656.4 He died on 5 June 1675 at age 48.4
     He participated in several Royalist conspiracies during the Interregnum.2 He gained the rank of Captain of Horse.2 He gained the rank of Colonel of Foot.2 He held the office of High Steward of Windsor.2 In 1658 he was tried for treason but acquitted by the presiding judge's casting vote.2 He was created 1st Baron Mordaunt of Ryegate, co. Surrey [England] on 10 July 1659.2 He was created 1st Viscount Mordaunt of Avalon, co. Somerset [England] on 10 July 1659.2 He was appointed Knight in 1660.2 He held the office of Ranger of Windsor Forest and Keeper of Windsor Great Park between 1660 and 1668.2 He held the office of Governor and Captain of Windsor Castle between 1660 and 1668.2 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey between 1660 and 1675.2

     Elizabeth Carey was born circa 1632.3 She was the daughter of Hon. Thomas Carey and Margaret Smith.1,3 She married John Mordaunt, 1st Viscount Mordaunt of Avalon, son of John Mordaunt, 1st Earl of Peterborough and Elizabeth Howard, circa 1656.3 She died on 5 April 1679.3
     From circa 1656, her married name became Mordaunt. After her marriage, Elizabeth Carey was styled as Viscountess Mordaunt of Avalon on 10 June 1659.

     Sir Joseph Alston, 4th Bt. was baptised on 15 September 1691 at Long Ditton, Surrey, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Sir Joseph Alston, 3d Bt. and Penelope Evelyn.1 He married Lucy Thursby, daughter of Richard Thursby and Elizabeth Montagu.1 He died in 1718, without issue.1 He died intestate and his estate was administered on 3 December 1718.1
     He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Alston, of Chelsea, co. Middlesex and of Bradwell Abbey, Bucks. [E., 1682] circa January 1715/16.1
