     George Leslie, 4th Earl of Rothes was born on 2 August 1484 at Rothes, Morayshire, Scotland.² He was the son of William Leslie, 3rd Earl of Rothes and Margaret Balfour.³ He married, firstly, Margaret Crichton, daughter of William Crichton, 3rd Lord Crichton and Margaret Stewart, in 1517.⁴ He and Margaret Crichton were divorced on 27 December 1520.⁴ He married, secondly, Elizabeth Gray, daughter of Andrew Gray, 2nd Lord Gray and Janet Keith, before June 1525.⁴ He married, thirdly, Agnes Somerville, daughter of Sir John Somerville, 1st of Cambusnethan and Elizabeth Carmichael, before 29 January 1529/30.³ He married, fifthly, Isobel Lundie, daughter of Sir Robert Lundie of Balgonie and Jean Lindsay, before 10 April 1543.⁵ He married, fourthly, Margaret Crichton, daughter of William Crichton, 3rd Lord Crichton and Margaret Stewart, in 1541.^3,6 He died on 28 November 1558 at age 74 at Dieppe, France.^5,3
     He succeeded as the 4th Earl of Rothes [S., 1458] on 9 February 1513.³ He succeeded as the 4th Lord Leslie [S., 1445] on 9 February 1513.³ He held the office of Extraordinary Lord of Session.³ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] in 1528.³ Circa 1546 on the attainder of his son, Norman, he had a charter of the forfeited lands of Ballinbreich, which he alienated to his third son Andrew.³ He held the office of Scottish Ambassador to Denmark in 1550.³ He held the office of Sheriff of Fife.³

     John Lyon, 8th Lord Glamis was born circa 1544.² He was the son of John Lyon, 7th Lord Glamis and Janet Keith.³ He married Hon. Elizabeth Abernethy, daughter of William Abernethy, 5th Lord Saltoun of Abernethy and Lady Elizabeth Hay, on 11 April 1561.⁴ He died on 17 March 1578 at Stirling, Stirlingshire, Scotland^G, accidentally killed in an encounter between his followers and those of the Earl of Crawford.²
     He succeeded as the 8th Lord Glamis [S., 1445] in 1558.¹ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] in 1567.³ He held the office of Extraordinary Lord of Session between 1570 and 1573.³ He held the office of Lord Chancellor [Scotland] between March 1573 and 1577/78.³

     John Stewart was born illegitimately between 1445 and 1460. He was the son of James II Stewart, King of Scotland.¹ He married Muriel Sutherland.² He died on 11 September 1523.²

     Alexander Stewart was born illegitimately circa 1493.¹ He was the son of James IV Stewart, King of Scotland and Marion Boyd.¹ He died on 9 September 1513 at Flodden Field, Northumberland, England^G, killed in action.¹
     He held the office of Archbishop of St. Andrews between July 1504 and 1505.¹ He held the office of Chancellor of Scotland in 1510.² He fought in the Battle of Flodden on 9 September 1513.²

     James Stewart, 1st Earl of Moray was born in 1501 illegitimately.² He was the son of James IV Stewart, King of Scotland and Janet Kennedy.¹ He married Lady Elizabeth Campbell, daughter of Colin Campbell, 3rd Earl of Argyll and Jean Gordon, in August 1529.³ He died on 12 June 1544.^1,4
     He was created 1st Earl of Moray [Scotland] in 1501.²

     Lady Elizabeth Campbell was the daughter of Colin Campbell, 3rd Earl of Argyll and Jean Gordon.¹ She married, firstly, James Stewart, 1st Earl of Moray, son of James IV Stewart, King of Scotland and Janet Kennedy, in August 1529.² She married, secondly, John Gordon, 11th Earl of Sutherland, son of Alexander Gordon, Master of Sutherland and Lady Janet Stewart, from 21 November 1545 to 12 June 1546.² She died circa 1544/45. She died before 18 May 1548, without issue.²
     From August 1529, her married name became Stewart. From from 21 November 1545 to 12 June 1546, her married name became Gordon.

     Colin Campbell, 3rd Earl of Argyll was the son of Archibald Campbell, 2nd Earl of Argyll and Lady Elizabeth Stuart.² He married Jean Gordon, daughter of Alexander Gordon, 3rd Earl of Huntly and Lady Jean Stewart, before 28 February 1506/7.² He died on 9 October 1529.^3,4
     He held the office of Vice-Regent and Lieutenant of the Kingdom in May 1511.² He succeeded as the 4th Lord Campbell [S., 1445] on 9 September 1513.² He succeeded as the 3rd Earl of Argyll [S., 1457] on 9 September 1513.² He succeeded as the 3rd Lord Lorne [S., 1470] on 9 September 1513.² He held the office of High Justiciar [Scotland] in July 1514.² He held the office of Lieutenant of the Isles in 1516.² In 1528 he obtained the barony of Abernethy, part of the forfeited estate of Archibald Douglas, 5th Earl of Angus.² He held the office of Master of the King's Household in 1528.⁵ He held the office of Lieutenant of the Borders and Warden of the Marches in July 1528.²
     According to Gibbs, "he was a prominent statesman both during the minority of [King] James V, when he exerted himself to procure the tranquility of the Isles, and throughout the reign of that King."² He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.⁶
     

     Katherine Stirling is the daughter of Sir William Stirling, 2nd of Keir and Margaret Crichton.² She married Archibald Douglas, 5th Earl of Angus, son of George Douglas, 4th Earl of Angus and Isabel Sibbald, on 1 June 1500.³ She and Archibald Douglas, 5th Earl of Angus were separated before 1513.¹
     After her marriage, Katherine Stirling was styled as Countess of Angus in 1500.² From 1 June 1500, her married name became Douglas. She and Alexander Home, 3rd Lord Home were associated in 1513.¹
