     Susan Jane Gow was born on 7 March 1949.² She is the daughter of General Sir James Michael Gow and Jane Emily Scott.³ She married Lt.-Col. Sir Walter Hugh Malcolm Ross, son of Colonel Walter John Macdonald Ross and Josephine May Cross, on 31 January 1969.²
     From 31 January 1969, her married name became Ross.¹ She lived in 2003 at Netherhall, Bridge-of-Dee, Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland.²

     General Sir James Michael Gow was born on 3 June 1924 at Sheffield, Yorkshire, England.² He was the son of J. C. Gow.³ He married Jane Emily Scott, daughter of Captain Mason Hogarth Scott and Hon. Irene Florence Seely, on 3 October 1946.⁴ He died on 26 March 2013 at age 88.²
     He was Equerry to Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)⁴ General Sir James Michael Gow usually went by his middle name of Michael.⁴ He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.)⁴
