Brigadier William Morgan Tilson Magan was born on 13 June 1908.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Arthur Tilson Shaen Magan and Kathleen Jane Biddulph.2 He married Maxine Mitchell, daughter of Sir Kenneth Grant Mitchell, on 30 November 1940.1 He died on 21 January 2010 at age 101.3
He was educated at Rossall School, Fleetwood, Lancashire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of in 1928 in the 1st Battalion, 60th Rifles.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of in 1929 in the Sam Browne's Cavalry (12th Frontier Force.)1 He gained the rank of in 1937 in the Hodson's Horse.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1946.1 He fought in the Palestine Campaign between 1946 and 1947, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He retired from the military in 1948, with the rank of Honorary Brigadier.1 He held the office of Assistant Under-Secretary, War Office between 1953 and 1968.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1958.1 He lived at Killyon Manor, County Meath, IrelandG.1 He lived in 1976 at St. Michael's House, Peckham Bush, Tonbridge, Kent, EnglandG.1
