LAS VEGAS (February 26, 2019)Viet Vo capped off a record-break Main Event at the World Series of Poker Circuit at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, earning his second career WSOP Circuit ring – and his first Main Event ring – and $274,030. The event drew 952 entries, the largest ever Circuit Main Event field at the Rio, just barely eclipsing the previous mark of 945.

Vo has come close to winning a Main Event many times in the past. This is his fifth Main Event final table, and his previous finishes are second place, third, fourth, and sixth. This time, though, he finally broke though, and the first-place prize money brings his total WSOP and Circuit earnings over the $1 million mark.

One of the players who nearly stood in Vo’s way was Nicholas Pupillo, who’s had several recent close calls of his own. This is Pupillo’s third Circuit Main Event final table so far this season. He’s had two runner-up finishes, and now a fourth place.

Also on the final day of the Circuit stop, Ali Imsirovic emerged victorious in the High Roller event, earning his first WSOP Circuit ring and $96,659.

Neil McFayden was likely the most consistent player at the Rio. He earned the title of Casino Champion after cashing four times, including a ring victory in Event #2: $400 No-Limit Hold’em. McFayden flew to Las Vegas from London, entered the event the next day, then walked away with his first career ring. He narrowly missed out on another final table, finishing ninth in the six-handed event, and ended the series with 72.5 points to earn a place in the 2019 Global Casino Championship. Viet Vo, by virtue of his Main Event victory, also earns a seat in the GCC.

Earlier in the Circuit stop, three women earned gold rings in preliminary events: Arlyn Malpezzi won Event #1 for $24,295, Ashley Sleeth won the Turbo event for $17,586, and Susie Genard won her second career ring in the HORSE event.
