Project goals (SSA - Erasmus+)

• Define the new workforce profiles emerging from trends analysis and future scenarios

• Define knowledge, competences and skills required from air transport industry to ease the alignment between the
actual training offer and the requirements of the different professional profiles

Objectives skill-UP will
• define the knowledge, skills and competences required by the future
employers of the Air Transport Sector to better align the training
offered to the requirements of different occupational profiles
• define the workforce profiles (job roles) called by the future trends
and scenarios,
• develop initial and continuing training programmes adapted to the
evolving requirements of the sector, based on suitable and innovative
teaching and training methodologies.
• develop assessment toolkit to track and assess individual
progression during the training
• develop an online Knowledge Centre that will collect the outputs of
the project, present curricula, training activities and guidelines for
specific target groups
• foster synergies between educational institutions and labour market
Target - Who will benefit from the project?
AIR TRAFFIC DRONE AIRPORT
PILOTS
CONTROLLERS OPERATORS OPERATORS

1. New entrants who can use the resources of the project to find out about
different careers in the sector, and build their career pathways and competences
needed (Skilling)

2. Professionals and practitioners in the aviation sector who wish to progress

within the Air Transport Sector, to assess their career pathways, identify
relevant training programmes to upgrade their skills, and prepare for the
desired job roles (Upskilling)

3. Employers in the aviation sector who will be able to recognise the skills
needed and invest in staff training for career development and skills upgrading
(Reskilling)

4. Training providers who can gain insights into sector trends and existing and
emerging skills that are in demand, and design programmes to address the
industry needs accordingly
Skill-UP approach
Back-casting technique innovative planning method designed to actively guide changes in
complex contexts through the analysis and the assessment of new trends, new profiles and future needs from
a present-future perspective

• Step 1: Analysis of trends and

technological transformations in
the aviation sector.
• Step 2: Identification of new
profiles and changes in skills and
competences.
• Step 3: Design of training
courses for skills acquisition and
upgrading
Step 1 Analysis of trends and technological
transformations in the aviation sector
Four scenarios illustrating the
key trends and innovations and
the major elements of changes in
working activities for the different
professions
Step 2: Identification of new profiles and changes in
skills and competences (1/2)

12 personas representing the

target users of future aviation
training programmes
Step 2: Identification of new profiles and changes in
skills and competences (2/2)

• Design of the study pathways

• Each study pathway complements
the future job profiles, by
specifying the new competences,
knowledge, skills required to work
in the new operational contexts.
Skill-UP Step 3: Design of training courses for skills
acquisition and upgrading

• Eight transversal and specific

training modules
• Format: combination of
synchronous and asynchronous
online learning activities
• More than 60 participants involved
in the pilot sessions
