Global Warming and Climate Change

• These phenomena refer to extreme or drastic
changes in climate and patterns all over the
world.
• These changes are often attributed to certain
human practices such as:
• 1. the use of fossil fuel
• 2. rampant logging
• 3. pollution
• 4. use of certain chemicals called greenhouse
gases

Social Change

 Climate change refers to rise in average

surface temperatures on earth mostly due to the
burning of fossil fuels.

 Further described as the consequence of

unchecked pollution when carbon emissions
caused by human activity enter the air, their
dangerous effects on the environment, the
economy and well-being.

Addressing the Impact of Climate Change

The Nature Conservancy site offers the following solutions:

• use forest conservation to directly lower carbon emissions and
combat climate change
• research migration routes and find out how much land needs to be
conserved to get animals where they need to go.
• invest in the restoration of coastal habitats.
• be a policy leader in moving forward solutions to climate change.
• restore natural systems on our coasts, like the coral reef restoration
work being done in Florida, that help absorb the effects of climate
change and protect coastal communities.
• innovate and share science-based solutions, so we can adapt faster.
