What Is DANCE?

What Is DANCE?
According to Barbara Mettler, 1980,
“Dance is an activity which can take
many forms and fill many different
needs. It can be recreation,
entertainment, education, therapy and
religion. In its purest and most basic
form, dance is art. THE ART OF BODY
OVEMENT”
Dance is a form of creative expression
that involves moving the body in
rhythm to musical accompaniment.
Dancers might communicate emotion
through dance or use dance to enjoy
the experience of being in a physical
body. However, not all forms of
movement are dance; in order to meet
the dance definition, a movement
needs expressiveness rather than just
functionality.
