1. RHYTHM- Rhythm is the way that music is systematically divided into beats that repeat a
specific number of times within a bar at a collectively understood speed or tempo.
2. DANCE- Dance is an art form where the body moves rhythmically, usually to the beat of the
music. A simple movement such as walking, or clapping in a pattern, to a particular rhythm, can
be termed a dance. Dance allows you to express your emotions and communicate with the rest
of the world. It also helps in engaging you; socially, physically, and emotionally all at the same
time.
3. RECREATIONAL DANCE- Recreational Dance defined recreation comes from the Latin word
recreare which means to refresh or to restore. According to Max Kaplan, recreation has been a
period of light and restful activity, voluntary chosen, which restore one for heavy, obligatory
activity to work. It is an activity that is done during free time or after obligatory doings.
Recreational dance includes those that have simple dance patterns based on combination of
waling steps, the two steps, the polka step, and the waltz step.
EXAMPLES OF RECREATIONAL DANCE:

 BALLET- Ballet provides the necessary fundamentals for all other styles of dance.
 HIP HOP- Hip Hop is a type of street dancing that incorporates swag and funk into the
choreography. Hip Hop is the type of dancing typical of music videos and backup
dancers for pop artists.

4. FOLK DANCE- Folk dance is a dance that reflects the life of the people of a certain country or
region. Not all ethnic dances are folk dances. For example, ritual dances or dances of ritual
origin are not considered to be folk dances. Ritual dances are usually called "Religious dances"
because of their purpose. The terms "ethnic" and "traditional" are used when it is required to
emphasize the cultural roots of the dance. In this sense, nearly all folk dances are ethnic ones.
If some dances, such as polka, cross ethnic boundaries and even cross the boundary between
"folk" and "ballroom dance", ethnic differences are often considerable enough to mention.

5. CREATIVE DANCE- Creative Dance is a contemporary form of dance that combines

movement and artistic expression, without the need for specific training. Typically, creative
dance focuses on the development of motor skills and emotional expression, as opposed to the
aesthetics based focus of dance in more traditional structured settings.

6. SOCIAL AND BALLROOM DANCE- Social dancing is a non-competitive version of ballroom

and latin dancing. It is comprised of all the same dances, like Foxtrot, Tango, Swing, or Cha-
Cha, but designed to be used in practical settings like wedding receptions, nightclubs, business
functions, or informal gatherings. Social dancing is less formal that exhibition dancing and is
meant to be enjoyed while socializing. Ballroom dance is a set of partner dances, which are
enjoyed both socially and competitively around the world, mostly because of its performance
and entertainment aspects.
