Summary
Summary
The story starts off with two friends
Braling and Smith taking a walk and
talking about how Braling’s wife
generally tries to keep Mr. Braling from
going out. Smith then talks about how
Mrs. Braling got Mr. Braling to marry her
by rumpling her hair and ripping her
clothes.
Summary
Mr. Braling then shows Smith how he was able to go out that night by
revealing Braling 2. Smith asks how this was done and received a business card
from Marionnettes Inc. Smith contemplates getting a marionette to get away
from his wife’s dangerous hugs. Once Smith gets back home he notices
$10,000 gone from his bank account. He then realizes his wife beat him to the
punch and replaced herself with a marionette. Braling then wants to put Braling
2 back in the cellar but Braling 2 refuses. Braling 2 then professes his love for
Mrs. Braling. He then tells Braling that he will lock him in the cellar and lose
the key and go to Rio with his wife. The story ends with Mrs. Braling being
kissed by “someone”.
