PROCESS FLOW
STRUCTURE
Process Flow Structure

▰ The process structure can be broadly classified into five

distinctions; project, job shop, batch process, assembly line,
and continuous flow.

▰ Coca Cola bottling company uses continuous flow

manufacturing (CFM).

▰ Continuous Flow Manufacturing (CFM) is a methodology that

aims at the optimization of a process using minimum
inventory. This is achieved by manufacturing a product, from
start to finish, in one production line 9
The CoCa Cola production motor is:

“ We monitor our product processes with

sophisticated control equipment and
testing  programs in order to meet and
exceed our costumers and consumers
expectation ”

10
Product Flow Structure

▰ The production flow of Coca Cola involves passing sub-assemblies/ parts from one stage
of production to another in a regular flow.
▰ Each stage adds to the products, this is typical among bottling plants. Coke used this
method because the products being distributed by the company are in wide variation
and is sold in bulk amounts.
▰ Products being distributed range from the bottled goods such as Coke, Diet Coke, an
assorted amount of different flavored soft drinks, to bottled water

product-focused strategy.
▰ It has set standards of its products that are produced in high volume with low variety.
▰ Coca-Cola Beverages Ltd. currently has five plants operational. These plants use continuous
planning for production. They forecast their sales for each week and then produce accordingly.
▰ Each line produces a maximum of 140000 cases of beverages in a day.

INVENTORY MANAGEMENT
SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT
Inventory Management

▰ Shifting their production to Just in Time=> production makes

inventory cost less and demands significantly less space for
inventory storage.

▰ Coca-Cola only retains a two- to three-day reserve stockpile.

▰ If they believe their factory is unable to satisfy market

demand for a product -> request completed items from
plants in neighboring cities to match the need, such as
the Lahore Plant
16
Supply chain management

▰ In each assembly there is 1 supervisor and 6-7

workers working for 8 hours a day .
▰ They only keep stock (raw materials) for 2-3 days,
according to Territory Operation Manager. Every day,
inventory is replenished.
▰  Sugar, CO2 gas, plastic sheet, Resin, tags, crowns,
and bottle caps are among their primary basic
materials (closure).
▰ Every day, Coca-Cola inspects each supply for
quality before sending it to the manufacturing
