The Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) is an autonomous and not-for-profit institute.

ABOUT EDII
Edii was set up in 1983. Promoted by All- India financial institutions viz., IDBI Bank ltd.,

ICICI Bank ltd., IFCI ltd. & SBI with support from the govt. of Gujarat. Registered under the Societies Registration act 1860 and Public Trust Act 1950. The university grants commission appointed EDII as an expert agency to develop a curriculum on entrepreneurship. In international arena EDII has earned support from the World Bank, Commonwealth Secretariat, UNIDO, ILO, British Council, Ford Foundation, European Union and other agencies.

ABOUT EDII
Edii carries task assigned by ministry of external affairs (India)

to set up entrepreneurship development centres in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Vietnam. Currently working in Uzbekistan and Kazhakistan. Recognition from UN-ESCAP, Bangkok. Edi selected as a member of the economic and social commission for asia and pacific (ESCAP) network of centres of excellence for HRD research and training.

MISSION
To become a catalyst in facilitating emergence of competent first generation entrepreneurs and transition of existing SMEs into growth-oriented enterprises through entrepreneurship education, training, research & institution building.

Entrepreneurship Education. Livelihood, Micro-enterprise & Micro-finance Development. Performance Improvement & Growth of Existing Entrepreneurs. ED Organizations and Support Systems. Cluster and value chain development. Social Entrepreneurship. Women Entrepreneurship. Research in Entrepreneurship Education and Development.

FACULTY AND MENTORS


The faculty is an ideal mix of resident and visiting faculty with high academic credentials, research base and international exposure. The distinctive research and project consultancy offered by faculty members both in India and abroad ensures that the programme offers content that is contemporary and global in its perspective. Eminent entrepreneurs and professionals visit the campus to teach and share their experiences. Present director : Dinesh N. Awasthi (Ph.D. Economics).

ACADEMIC PROGRAMS
Post Graduate Diploma in Management Business Entrepreneurship (PGDM-BE)

Approved by All India Council for Technical Education. Equivalent to MBA degree of an Indian University as accorded by the Association of Indian University. Accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Awarded USASBE Outstanding Entrepreneurship Program Abroad Award 2014.

The PGDMBE two-year, full-time, residential programme at the

EDI, now in its sixteenth batch of delivering entrepreneurship education, has been designed specifically for entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial managers. Aim is to encourage critical and lateral thinking, nurture the ambitions, and enable new ventures through an academically rigorous, directly relevant and highly practical learning experience. Entrepreneurship Process at EDI Students are taught to identify opportunities and check on their feasibility. Through mentoring and guidance the students prepare a business plan. They are given a platform to pitch their ideas to banks and investors, so that they can launch their own venture.

Post Graduate Diploma in Management Development Studies

is designed as a broad and multi-disciplinary focused programme to equip students with knowledge, analytical and conceptual skills of social and economic development. It prepares students with ability to provide entrepreneurial solutions to social problems, livelihoods for rural and urban poor, corporate social responsibility initiatives and creating social enterprises.

Change Process at EDI The end-product, PGDM-DS graduate, will come out as a development professional with entrepreneurial drive, management training, capacity to work across sectors/thematic areas with compassion and confidence to convert ideas into action.

EDII Directors message


Today leadership, dynamism, innovation and creativity have
become the benchmarks of an industrialized economy. Corporates need to infuse these skills in their executives through constant skill honing and developing programmes. Over last more than two and a half decades, EDI has been aiming at creating a well rounded entrepreneurial environ by mounting programmes that are market demand driven.
