How Much / How Many
How Much / How Many
Phrasal Verbs
vez.

ask around ask many people the same I asked around but nobody has seen my wallet.

Algunos de éstos: some, many,
much, any.
Using Gerunds or infinitives
One of the difficulties of the English language is to know whether to use a gerund (ex : doing) or
an infinitive (ex : to do).
These rules are helpful but DO NOT always explain all uses of gerunds and infinitives.

love
enjoy
dislike

Imperatives
EJEMPLOS
En este caso, podríamos usar también el verbo modal ought to / oughtn't to.
You don't look well. You ought to go to the doctor (no tienes buena cara. Deberías ir al médico)
You oughtn't to drive so fast / You ought not to drive so fast (no deberías conducir tan rápido)
Cuidado: Should expresa obligación débil (consejo). Por el contrario, must se usa para
expresar obligación fuerte (orden).
En negativa:
You shouldn't have told her. It was a secret (no se lo deberías haber contado. Era un secreto)
Can is the same for all subjects. We don't add an 'S' in the third person (like other verbs)
The verb that comes after Can is in the infinitive without to:
I can speak Spanish. (= it is possible for me to speak Spanish = I have the ability to speak
Spanish)
He can swim well.
We can see our neighbour in the garden.
They can play the guitar.
Negative
To form the negative we add "not" after can to form one word: cannot.
Impersonal Can
Sometimes You can and Can you…? are impersonal and refer to people in general.
You can see many stars at night from here. (= people in general can see many stars)
Not necessarily saying YOU can't run naked in the middle of the street but in general it is not possible for
anyone.
Too / Enough
Is there a book?
Yes, there is.
No, there isn't.
EJEMPLOS
He swims well.
He ran quickly.
She spoke softly.
James coughed loudly to attract her attention.
He plays the flute beautifully. (después del complemento de objeto)
He ate the chocolate cake greedily.
