Eulogy

Atty. Uella

For some of us, the moment we lay down on our beds after a hard days work, ask
this question: if tomorrow never comes for me, did I live my life to the fullest
today? Would I have any regrets, or was there something I couldve done more
today? A few people ask this question before they sleep at night, and in that rare
number of people, I am certain that Paul was one of them.
Most of you might know him as this very hard working student. Top of his class and
yet he can still fulfill additional roles with his other activities being a staple
member of the choir, and a leader in parish youth council; you name it, hes
probably in it. And I am truly blessed to have had the opportunity to know him a
little better than most he might be a close friend to you, but he was a brother to
me. Aside from his innate diligence, I think that his best trait was his gentleness, his
passion to his friends and family, his dedication to his commitments. Aside from his
natural talent in music, I believe his best talent was his ability to show his
compassion for others and to put the sake of others before his own. This is how I
know him.
As Paul would say Music is the universal language, it is indeed Music that bound
us together. I remember the times when we would just have jam sessions for hours
and hours, with the rest of our cousins. I remember the times that I would ask him
to teach me this particular song that I cant seem to play. He would teach me the
basics, yet he will always say I am way better than I think I am. Like I said, I am a
really lucky person because I got a free music lesson as well as a lesson of humility
yet another one of his many traits.
It is extremely rare to find a person who is so talented, so capable and yet so very
down to earth. Very rare to find a person who has aimed and reached high yet
whose feet is firmly rooted on the ground, let alone this person be part of your life,
our lives. And by having said that, I am deeply saddened to lose such person. In
spite of my grief, I am grateful because I have been deeply blessed by simply being
part of his life, as he will be forever part of mine.
And now we go back the question we ask before we sleep; the question that Paul
asks himself before he retires for the day. Did we live our lives to the fullest, like he
did in his? Was there something we could have done more today, like he did in his
entire life? Let us forever honor his memory by making his example our way of life.
He will be sorely missed by his family, by us, his friends, and by everyone who
experienced his diligence and his radiance. Paul has made this world a much better
place in ways that would make anyone, be it his family or his friends, very proud.

And he will forever remain in our hearts as a constant reminder that greatness
requires humility, talents require sharing and commitment requires love.
