SYNOPSIS

ON

THE READINGS

OF

OSA IWORI
FOR

AMUKINRO AWO
SOLAGBADE POPOOLA

OSA IWORI
OSA ADIJO

1. Ifa says that there is a child where this Odu is revealed who
has a very close affinity to Obatala it will be best to have the
icon of Orisa for the child and to propitiate Orisa regularly for
him/her. Ebo materials; four guinea-fowls, four pigeons, 16
land snails, 16 Efun, a bundle of white clothe and money.
After the ebo, part of the materials will be used to propitiate
Orisa. On this, Ifa says:

Osa nwoo’le
Iwori nwode
Dia fun Ofe
Tii somo Orisa
Ebo ni won ni ko waa se
O gb’ebo, o ru’bo
Ojumo mo a rofee lode o
Ofe o de o, omo Orisa

Translation
Osa is looking inside the house
While Iwori is looking outside
Ifa’s message for Ofe
The child of Orisa
He was advised to offer ebo
He complied
When the day breaks we saw Ofee outside
Here comes the child of Orisa
2. Ifa advises someone to offer ebo for the protection of his/her
child’s life. Ifa says that this child will be spared from
untimely death and will be given respect against all harms
that might affect his/her contemporaries. Ebo materials; two
roosters, two guinea-fowls, two pigeons and money. After
this, Ogi, raw cornmeal will be prepared and this stanza will
be recited into Iyerosun and poured into the Ogi. This will be
mixed with cold water and be given to the child to consume.
If the child is still a baby and breast feeding the mother of the
child will consume the preparation. On this, Ifa says:

Lunpu Aketenpe
Dia fun Opolo
Ti nmoju ekun sunrahun tomo
Ebo ni won ni ko waa se
O gb’ebo, o ru’bo
Eni la muja ojoko
Emi o ba e wi o baba

Translation
Lunpu Aketenpe
He cast Ifa for Opolo the Toad
When lamenting her inability to beget her own baby
She was advised to offer ebo
She complied
Today we are confronting and sentencing all children to
death
But we are not referring to you dear father

3. Ifa says that there is the need to feed Esu for a child here.
This is because this child is embarking on dangerous
ventures that may terminate his/her life unceremoniously.
Not only this, this child may also do something that may put
the parent and other family members into serious trouble.
Ebo materials; three roosters and money. There is also the
need to feed Esu as directed by Ifa. On this, Ifa says:

Sanyin-niwo
Sanyin-niwo
Dia fun Pakundu omo Alara
Ebo ni won ni ko waa se
O gb’ebo, o ru’bo
Pakundu omo Alara ma nfakun Esu deere o

Translation
Sanyin-niwo
Sanyin-niwo
They cast Ifa for Pakundu the child of Alara
He was advised to offer ebo
He complied
Pakundu is pulling the trouble of Esu Odara?
4. Ifa says that the situation of this person had really gone
down and scattered. Only Ifa can rearrange his/her life. Ebo
materials; two matured she-goats, 16 rats, 16 fish, eight land
snails, different variety of food, liquor, and money. After the
ebo, there is the need to arrange a small party where people
will dance, eat and drink. On this, Ifa says:

Awo felefel nii boju koso


Ijin legelege nii baja mole
Dia fun Agbe
Ti nsawo rode Otunmoba
Dia fun won lode Otunmoba
Nijo aye won fo bi igba
To ya bi aso
To fa ya ogbaragada kanle
Ebo ni won ni ki won waa se
Won gb’ebo, won ru’bo
Agbe de o, ola-bugaga
Ifa nde ki o jo, bugaga

Translation
A thin leather cover the face of Koso drum
And shadow covers the roof of the house
Ifa’s message for Agbe
When going on Ifa’s mission to Otunmoba land
He was advised to offer ebo
He complied
The same message was given to the inhabitants of
otunmoba land
When their lives broke like calabash
And tore like cloth
It tore from head to toe
They were advised to offer ebo
The complied
Here come Agbe
Olabugaga
Ifa stand up and dance
Bugaga

5. Ifa says that there is a serious crises for the person for
whom this Odu is revealed. Unfortunately the person had
not yet been able to identify the root cause of his/her
problems. There is the need for this person to offer ebo in
order to identify the cause of the problem. Ebo materials;
one matured he-goat and money.

Translation
Without carrying any load the jack-knife developed
hunchback
Ifa’s message for Orunmila
When going to Ota land
The same message for giving to the inhabitants of Ota land
When an animal with spotted body did not allow them to
sleep overnight
They were advised to offer ebo
They complied
Gently Orunmila
The Ajana of Ota land who uses the head of a Leopard to
propitiate his Ifa

6. Ifa advises a man to offer ebo in order for Orunmila to come


to his rescue. Ifa is the sanctuary of this person. Ebo
materials; two guinea-fowls, two hens, two pigeons, eight
rats, eight fish and money. Part of the materials will be used
to feed Ifa. On this, Ifa says:

Osa woo
Iwori woo
Oun a ba jo wo
Gigun nii gun
Dia fun Orunmila
Ifa yoo tun Ori akapo re se
Ebo ni won ni ko waa se
O gb’ebo, o ru’bo
Ko pe, ko jinna
E wa ba ni ba jebutu ire

Translation
Osa take a look
And Iwori take a look
Whatever we consider together
It is bound to come up well
Ifa’s message for Orunmila
When going to repair the Ori is Akapo
He was advised to offer ebo
Before long, not too far
Join us in the midst of all ire

7. Ifa advises a woman seeking the blessing of the fruit of the


womb to offer ebo. Her child is with Osun and Osun will give
her the blessing. Ebo materials; two hens, plenty of Akara,
and Yanrin, Vegetable. After the ebo, the Yanrin vegetable
will be used to cover the Osun completely. One of the hens
will be slaughtered for Osun and the back of the hen
together with the eggs inside the hen will be used to prepare
herb food for the woman. Eyin Olobe and iyere spice will be
grinding together and be added to the herb food that will be
given to the woman to consume.

Osa is looking inside the house
While Iwori is looking outside
Ifa’s message for Osun Onikii
When lamenting her inability to beget her own baby
She was advised to offer ebo
She complied
Now we have secured our Areyingbomopon leaves
All barren women in Otu Ife
They will all be blessed with their own babies

8. Ifa advises this person to offer ebo of childbearing. He/she


also needs to take good care of the children after he/she had
been blessed with them. Ebo materials; two hens and
money. He/she also needs to feed Ifa with four rats, four fish
and one matured she-goat. On this, Ifa says:

Osa woowoo
Awo Aja lo dia f’Aja
Aja nfomi oju sungbere omo
Ebo ni won ni ko waa se
O gb’ebo, o ru’bo
Ko pe, ko jinna
E wa ba ni ni jebutu omo

Translation
Osa woowoo
The awo of Aja, the Dog cast Ifa for Aja
When lamenting her inability to beget a baby
She was advised to offer ebo
She complied
Before long, not too far
Join us in the midst of many children

9. Ifa advises this person to offer ebo of victory. Ifa says that
three people are really against him/her and they are looking
for ways to destroy him/her. It will not happen. This person
is also advised not to be far away from his/her paternal
lineage. Even though this same enemies are not far away
from there. Ebo materials; three roosters, plenty of pebbles,
roasted corn and money. He/she also needs to feed his/her
father or the spirit of his/her father. On this, Ifa says:

Awo Itu
Dia fun Itu
Won ni ile baba re npee
Awo Ikooko
Dia fun Ikooko
Won ni ile baba re npee
Awo Ekun
Dia fun Ekun

Ebo ni won ni ki won waa se

Translation
Osa is looking inside the house
While Iwori is looking outside
The Awo of Itu, the He-goat
He cast Ifa for Itu
They said that his father’s household is calling him
Osa is looking inside the house

The awo of Ikoko , the Hyena
They said that his father’s household is calling him
Osa is looking inside the house
While Iwori is looking outside
The awo of kiniun, the Tiger
They said that his father’s household is calling him

The awo of Ekun, the Leopard
They said that his father’s household is calling him
They were advised to offer ebo
Only Itu complied with all the ebo
And only Itu become the owner of the house
10. Ifa advises this person to offer ebo in order to protect
his/her life. Ifa says that it foresees victory and
accomplishment for this person. Ebo materials here are
three roosters, the complete dress that this person acquired
last and money. on this, Ifa says:

Bi won ba nkole lakuro


Oun kulukulu ni won maa nhu nibe
Dia fun Gunnugun
Tii somo Elejigbo-Oro
Ebo ni won ni ko waa se
O gb’ebo, o ru’bo
Gunnugun kii ku lewe
Kangere
N kasai darugbo
Kangere

Translation
If they are making heap in the swampy area of the farm
They will be encountering lumping substances on the
ground
Ifa’s message for Gunnugun, the Vulture
The offspring of Elejigbo-Oro
He was advised offer ebo of longevity
He complied
Gunnugun will never die young
Kangere
I will grow old and feeble
Kangere

11. Ifa says that it foresees the ire of success and


accomplishment for this person. This person will also be
blessed with prestige, respect and honour. There is the
need for this person to offer ebo with two pigeons, two
guinea-fowls, two ducks, two roosters and money.

Ifa’s message for Igun the first son of Elejigbo
He was advised to offer ebo of accomplishment
He complied
Before long, not too far
Join us in the midst of joy
Come and perceive all ire of life

12. Ifa says that something is giving the person for whom
this Odu is revealed a lot of restlessness and anxiety. Ifa
advises this person to offer ebo and for him/her not to
entertain any fear. Ifa says that the spirit of his/her paternal
ancestor will help him/her to overcome. Ifa also promises
that this person will be the recipient of several ire from
outside his/her locality. Ifa advises this person to offer ebo
with two roosters, two pigeons, two hens and money.
He/she also needs to feed the spirit of his/her ancestor with
one Okete, and feed Egbe with favorites of fruits. On this, Ifa
says:

Iwori ni nwode
Abiamo ni o je se oun re bi omo aja
Dia fun Dandasu
Tii somo Yesinu
Ebo ni won ni ko waa se
O gb’ebo, o ru’bo
Dandasu waa de, omo Yesinu

Translation
Osa is looking inside the house
While Iwori is looking outside
A nursing mother will never handle her own baby as a
puppy
Ifa’s message for Dandasu
The child of Yesinu
He was advised to offer ebo
He complied
Here comes Dandasu the child of Yesinu
We have offered ebo and its has been accepted

13. Ifa says that it foresees ire for this person outside
his/her locality. Ebo materials; two Okete, two brooms, two
roosters, two pigeons and money. He/she will feed his/her
paternal ancestors with one Okete and feed Ifa with another
Okete.

Ifa’s message for Olowo
When going to Efunmapa land
He was advised to offer ebo
He complied
It is the Okete that Olowo offered as ebo that made his
wishes to manifest

14. Ifa says that it foresees the ire of accomplishment for


the person for whom this Odu is revealed. This person had
hitherto been facing the problem of unconsummated fortune
but now everything will be alright. This person will also
become the custodian of all the good things of life in his/her
community. Ebo materials; two pigeons, two roosters and
money.

The sandal does not expect the owner to express
gratitude of service rendered yesterday
Ifa’s message for Ile the house
When lamenting that she was living a lonely life
She was advised to offer ebo
She complied
It was Ile that offered ebo
And it was Ile that offered all Etutu
It is only Ile that was observing all prescribed advises

15. Ifa advises this person to deliberate thoroughly on any


issue before going for Ifa consultation. Doing this will make
this person to achieve great success in life. Ebo materials;
two pigeons, two hens and money. There is also the need to
feed Ifa with one matured she-goat.

16. Ifa says that it foresees ire of success outside the


locality of this person. Three people will go on this trip and
only this person will succeed. Ebo materials; two pigeons,
two roosters and honey. He/she also needs to feed Ifa with
pure honey. On this, Ifa says:
