(Round 1)

I disagree with the statement because the animals would suffer immensely.

Majority of animals in laboratories undergo painful experiments over days, months, years, or even
decades. Laboratory animals experience immense pain and misery and life in a laboratory is often an
unpleasant and terrifying experience.

This is because, the animals would be kept alone in small barren steel cages with almost no room to
move around and the animals would be stressed because they do not have any soft toys or soft
beddings that could make them comfortable in those cages.

Besides that, the animals would also be left alone without any companion, leading them to extreme
loneliness. The laboratory animals would associate with humans with painful situations because they
do not have the chance to feel the loving touch of a human being. Animals that require a lot of
human attention would suffer terribly and they would panic whenever a human being tries to touch
them with no way to hide.

Inexperienced or irresponsible staff may mistreat animals in laboratories. Although there are fines
for laboratories when animals are harmed or killed as a result of carelessness or when they fall short
of minimal requirements for animal care, in practise, the fines are usually extremely low.

animals in laboratories could also watch or hear other animals suffering which might be one of their
siblings or parents or even their babies. When being exposed to this high level of stress for such a
long time, the animals would eventually mutilate themselves. The animals would start to show
aggressive behaviours by repetitively knocking, rocking or vocalizing as a way to relieve their anxiety.

According to The Humane Society of United States, laboratories get their animals either from the
wild, sold by brokers known as random source Class B dealers and directly obtained from animal
shelters. Usually cats and dogs are taken from animal shelters and this practise is called as “pound
seizures”. Different states have different pound seizure laws where some state does not allow such
action while some do support it for example, in Oklahoma, animal shelters are required to give dogs
and cats to laboratories rather than euthanizing them.

Where do laboratories get the animals they use in experiments?

(Round 2)
I would suggest people to buy and support cruelty-free products rather than supporting popular
brands that supports animal testing.

According to Saima (2022), there are variety of reasons why avoiding animal cruelty is the best
choice you can make. The large beauty industry is unclear about the cruelty involved in producing its
products. Instead, they make an effort to conceal it by downplaying or disputing the use of animals
in scientific research.

Therefore, we need to take action and search for any cruelty-free shops that make sure their
products are 100% cruelty-free.

The Leaping Bunny is by far the most trusted cruelty-free certified shop that I have discovered. I
usually shop here to buy make up products because of their guarantee in having non-animal tested
products.

The shop Leaping Bunny business have strict procedures and policies to verify that their products are
truly cruelty-free.

If you are not a fan of beauty products, you can also play a part by supporting, donating, and
volunteering with different organizations that have the same mission to promote alternative testing
methods and to put an end to animal testing.

Putting an end to animal testing does not mean that we want to harm human lives. Scientists have
developed a much quicker, easier, and a more reliable method of test the safety of a product.

However, many companies are still hesistant to use this alternative because in some countries,
animal testing are required to protect themselves against lawsuits by injured customers.
