HELLO! Peace and all Good!

There are lot of reasons to be happy because we are contented and feel
the love of our love ones. We are almost done with our module and you
did not give up in answering all the activities. For this module, you will
explore more different kinds of stories that will make you feel love and
happy. You will also familiarize the different kinds of adverbs and how
will you use it in a sentence. From the story that you will read, you are
going to apply it by performing short story telling. I know that you loved
to share things based from your experiences. As you go through, you will
find out the answer in the question “What is the importance of using
expressions while reading?” Are you ready for your new activities?

 Open your book on page 287 and read about the meaning of ADVERB using in the
sentence. Adverb tells how, when and where is use the verb in the sentence. Watch the
video discussion to have a better understanding on the topic. Example is given below.

Adverb are words that describe when, where and how actions are done.
Examples:
 Jeren played yesterday.
It talks about time when he played. The adverb there is YESTERDAY.
 My mother runs fast.
It talks about manner how the mother run. The adverb there is FAST.
 The girls are eating here.
It talks about place where did the girl ate. The adverb there is HERE.

Activity 5: DISCUSSION
USING ADVERBS OF MANNER IN MAKING COMPARISONS
The Adverb of manner is used to compare how an action is done. The suffix
–er or –est is added to the adverb to show the comparison. The words more
and most also added to adverbs with three or more syllables.
Examples:
The cat jumped high.
The cat jumped higher than the dog.
The cat jumped highest among the tree.

Another examples using more and most.

My mother sings beautifully.
My mother sings more beautifully than my aunt.
My mother sings most beautifully among all the singers.

NOTE: With adverbs ending in -ly, you must use more to form the
comparative, and most to form the superlative.

Let us discuss about the difference between Adjective and Adverb.
 Adjectives describe nouns and pronouns.
 Adverbs describe when, where, and how an action is done.

EXAMPLES:

1. The Mathematics is a hard subject.

Hard is an adjective because it describes the noun which is the word
“subject”.

2. Marie studies hard.

Hard is an adverb because it shows how a verb is done which is the
word “studies”.
