Subject: English
1. Science - Writing a lab report using the subject, verb, and object structure.
2. Social Studies - Describing historical events using the subject, verb, and object
structure.
3. Mathematics - Writing word problems using the subject, verb, and object structure.
Review Motivation:
1. Show a short video clip of a famous speech and ask students to identify the
subject, verb, and object in the speech.
2. Play a game of "Sentence Builder" where students take turns adding a subject,
verb, and object to create a sentence.
3. Show a series of sentences with missing subjects, verbs, or objects and have
students complete them.
Materials: Flashcards with subjects, verbs, and objects written on them, timer
Instructions:
4. When the timer starts, the first student from each team will flip over a flashcard.
5. The student must then construct a sentence using the subject, verb, and object on
the flashcard.
6. If the sentence is correct, the student passes the flashcard to the next person in
line.
7. The next student must then add another flashcard to the sentence and continue
the relay.
8. The team that completes the most correct sentences in the given time wins.
Assessment questions:
1. What is the subject, verb, and object in the sentence "The cat chased the
mouse"?
2. Construct a sentence using the subject "I", verb "ate", and object "an apple".
Materials: Sentence strips with mixed-up subject, verb, and object phrases
written on them
