Sub ; Extension of the tenure qf recognition and permission for co-education of all recognised.
Jr. High Schools Q-Class & 4-Class) and High Schools,

It is notified for
information of all concemed that the Board, by its Circular No. 5/156
dated July 19, 2005 (issued in partial modification of its earlier Circular No. S/29A dated 18-
0l-1995) allowed the recognised secondary schools (aided and unaided) having the Board's
order of extension of recognition/permission for co-education for the second time, to enjoy the
status of recognition/co-education until further orders and such schools need not apply for
extension for the third time. But some schools had not applied to the Board for extension of
recognition/permission for co-education even after expiry of their provisional recognition period/
first extension period of recognition and they are functioning without extension orders.
The matter was placed before the Executive Committee of the Board in its meeting held
on 02-06-2009. The Executive Committee resolved as follows :-
"The schools (aided and unaided) functioning without any order of extension of recognition/
permission for co-education be permitted to apply for extension of recognition and/or permission
for co-education within six months from the date of issue of this Circular without late fee and
in case of delay in applying to the Board, be permitted to apply with late fee of Rs. 500/-
(Rupees five hundred) for each year of delay. If it is found that any school (aided or unaided)
is functioning without extension order of the Board for an indefinite period ignoring this decision,
steps will be taken for withdrawal of recognition of such school".

The concemed schools shall abide by the above decision of the Executive Committee of
the Board and shall deposit the requisite fee and/or late fee through a Demand Draft of six
months' validity issued by any Nationalised Bank, drawn in favour of "Reserve Bank of India,
Kolkata A,/c. ll'est Bengal Board of Secondary Education Fund" in the respective Camp OfJice
and Regional Council Offtce of the Board with the Name, Address and Index Number of the
school clearly written on the reverse of the Demand Druft. A copy of the receipt milst be
attached while submitting prq)er for extension Proforma Challan is enclosed herewith which
will be available from respective Regional Council Office and Camp Office.
