WHAT are the CONCERNS?

• There are a number of community cats in and around the vicinity of LEXINGTON GARDEN
VILLAGE
• Cats multiply quickly
• Cats by instinct fight for a mate and will be noisy
• Kittens are sometimes thrown in the garbage or left on the streets
• If unaddressed, the cat population will continue to grow
• LEXINGTON GARDEN VILLAGE wishes to address/manage the population in a
humane manner
• Possible transmission of viral or bacterial infection

WHAT are the PROPOSED SOLUTIONS?

• Implement the humane solution of spay and neuter (removal of the reproductive
capability)
• CARA Welfare Philippines (animal welfare NGO) will provide the service
• Designate feeding areas so that cats will not have to forage through garbage
• Studies have shown that cat eradication (inhumane disposal of cats) will not work
• Be one with many other communities who uphold the Animal Welfare Act 8485 which
protects the rights of companion animals (such as dogs and cats)

WHO is CARA Welfare Philippines?

• We are an animal welfare NGO, a non-profit and non-funded organization
• One of our main advocacies is to promote the humane solution toward animal population
control through spay and neuter
• We currently manage spay and neuter programs of several villages in Metro Manila, such
as Valle Verde1-4, Acropolis Village, Bel Air Village, Forbes Park, Dasmarinas Village,
Magallanes Village, Ayala Alabang Village, Bonifacio Heights, San Miguel Village, Sta.
Cruz and Sta. Ana, Manila. We also manage S/N programs of commercial and service
establishments such as Greenbelt 1-5, Glorietta 4, Ortigas Park, Boni Mandaluyong
Market, Market Market and Heritage Park, DLSU Taft.

WHAT are the BENEFITS of the PROGRAM?

• Animal population is controlled, thus the number of existing cats in the community will
not increase
• Cat fights and noises (cats by instinct will look for a mate) on rooftops and in the streets
will be greatly reduced
• Humane management augurs well for the community and will eliminate an inhumane
cycle of unwanted kittens

description, gender and exact location where they were caught

P650)

will be fed and managed

HOW can the PEOPLE in the AREA PARTICIPATE?

• If you have cats in your area (whether yours, or they have just taken “residence” there, please
call your association/administration so we can schedule their pick up)
o However, if owned, the cat is required to have updated vaccine (4-in-1) or is given
the vaccine week prior to surgery. As they will be placed together with stray cats
from other areas and may have accidental transmission.
• If you know of specific streets/areas where cats congregate, please call the
association/administration so that we can schedule their pick up
• Please participate in a feeding program that may be instituted to keep cats away from the
garbage.
• Residents can help spread the management of the population through our low-cost package.
Monetary and in-kind donations are welcome and check our Facebook page on how to help
CARA. Adoption is also included.
