Taglines are commonly used in advertisement. Advertisement aims to promote, persuade, influence
or convince people to take actions or patronize products advertisers are endorsing. With this, some
advertisers tend to over-do this promotion that leads to the use of PROPAGANDA TECHNIQUES.

Basic Propaganda Strategies


1. Bandwagon - persuading consumers by telling them that
others are doing the same thing.

2. CARD STACKING- This propaganda technique shows the products’


best features, tells half truths and omits its potential problems.
3. Plain Folks- This propaganda technique uses ordinary people
as endorsers to show that the product is being used by usual
people.

4. Testimonial - when a product is sold by using words


from famous people or authority figures.

5. Glittering Generalities- This propaganda technique using “good” labels such


as democratic, patriotic, amazing, beautiful and exciting, that are unsupported by
facts to sell the product or idea.

6. Name Calling- This propaganda technique involves using disapproval phrases


to create a negative opinion about someone or some other brand.

of a famous person or thing but no words from the said
person or thing.
