    Semi-detailed Lesson Plan in English Grade 8

    I. Objectives:
    At the end of this lesson, the students should be able to:
    a. identify the parallel structures used in a text;
    b. apply rules of parallel structures to complete a text; and
    c. appreciate the importance of parallel structure in reading a text.

    II.Subject Matter
    a. Topic: Parallel Structures (First Quarter)
    b. Materials: reading materials, visual presentations, worksheets
    c. Reference: English Grade 8- Learning Module pp. 55-56

    III. Procedure
    Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity
    A. Preliminary Activities
    1.Opening Prayer
    The teacher will call a student to lead the : (A student will lead the prayer.)
    prayer.

    2.Greetings : (The students will greet the teacher.)


    The teacher will greet the students.

    3.Attendance Checking and other Classroom


    Management
    The teacher will check the attendance and will
    ask students to align chairs and to observe
    cleanliness. The teacher will also instruct the
    students that they will strictly use the English : (The students will align chairs and pick
    language during class. pieces of trash.)

    4.Review
    The teacher will ask what the types of text and : (Some students will answer.)
    their characteristics are.

    B. Activity
    The teacher will distribute a reading material- an
    informative text about African literature which
    contains parallel structures. She will ask the : (The students will read.)
    students to read them in choral.

    The teacher will let the students answer : (The students will answer.)
    comprehension questions.

    Then, the teacher will ask about the underlined : (The students will answer.)
    words/phrases/sentences on the text and will
    write them on the board.
    C. Analysis
    All answers will be checked by the teacher. Then,
    she will introduce the parallel structures.

    The teacher will present the objectives of the : (The students will read the objectives.)
    lesson.

    D. Abstraction
    The teacher will show the definition and an
    example of parallel structures in a visual
    presentation. Next, she will show a narrative text : (The students will read the narrative and
    and in a descriptive text for the students to read. descriptive text, then they will identify
    parallel structures there.)

    Then, the teacher will ask the students some : (The students will answer.)
    comprehension questions about the texts.

    Lastly, the teacher will let the students identify

    E. Application
    The teacher will distribute worksheets which has
    a comparison and contrast text. The teacher will

    F. Generalization
    The teacher will ask the students to answer the
    question, “What is the importance of parallel : (The students will answer.)
    structures in reading different texts?”

    IV. Evaluation
    The teacher will distribute a problem-solution text. They have to complete the text applying
    rules of parallel structures. The teacher will allot 10 minutes for them to complete the text.

    V. Assignment
    The teacher will give a process text, then the students will underline the parallel structures
    found there.
