COP Saves A Mother and Her Baby from the Pangs of Death

By: Daye_Baggy

PMSgt/ Dr. John B. Barbonio of the RTC5, Camp B Simeon Ola Legaspi City is presently
the_______________of the Training Center but seldom do we find in the PNP Organization whose
educational qualification is both a PHD in Criminal Justice and a Dr. of Laws. In addition to this, he is
gifted with literary writing skills. In fact he writes speeches for almost every occasion in RTC5
This is the very reason why he got connected with me as a co-author ( 2 nd author in a literary
book for publication soon. As a co-author we have to communicate after his office hours regarding the
project. Thus on Sunday night, August 29th I was waiting for his instructions regarding the project.
It was almost 12 midnight when I received a text message from him which runs like this…….
“Instructions later po Mam, Emergency lang po”
The statement emergency lang po Mam cautioned me that something serious was happening at
that moment. So, I called him up.
He did not answer my call instead texted me this, “Don’t call please am, driving.”
I insisted asking him through text message what the emergency was all about and what vehicle he was
driving.
He replied,” motor.”
It is not a surprise for Policemen like him to respond to emergency cases though I worried about the
matter.
After a few moments was another text from Sir.
He said, I rescued a neighbor who was in extremely in labor pains about to deliver her Baby.
“Humanap kami ng ospital( nearest lying in here in Daraga.) carrying in is motorcycle drove with the
fastest speed fearing that she might deliver while travelling and face a more serious risk as he is not a
nurse.
The following message to me was quite kilometric together with a picture of the Mother and her
Baby captioned:” Mother safely delivered and baby in safe condition.
Further he related how he was speeding his motor cycle carrying a pregnant woman on the
verge of birthing. Furthermore, he knew that the Baby she delivered was out of wedlock. According to
the woman( whom he didn’t even know) was that she is from another province, who stew away from
her family, rented a small room near my boarding house. She said, she is unlucky to have been denied of
marriage & responsibility by the man he had in a previous relationship.
The following morning, she was discharged from the Lying Inn& was home to her small rented
room and carrying her new born Baby went to see Sir Barbonio to thank him for his kindness and
charitable act so, in gratitude to him and intends to make him the Ninong of her baby.
What a happy ending was the story with the dilemma that night!
Now friends, these are some questions the writer should like to pose and readers to think about.
What if there was no Sir Barbonio who came to the rescue?
What if in carrying a woman in severe labor pains he collapsed because he was so stressed from
work the whole day?
What if Sir Barbonio crashed in the middle of the street because he was over speeding?
What if the COP went into the hands of the NPA for being out in the middle of the night?
What if the mother delivered in the middle of the streets without medical assistance while Sir
Barbonio has no knowledge in line with medical services?
What if Sir Barbonio turned deaf ears to the person in dire need of help?
Friends, this is a story that happened right on the National Heroes Day last August 29, 2021
This indeed calls for Heroes in the 21st Century.
His heroic deed deserves the most coveted Heroism Medal like any other COP in the region
Our country needs brave heroes to offer their supreme sacrifice in line of duty and even beyond:
be involved in encounters with criminals and outlaws, we need their heroism to pursuit operations to
neutralize the members of the NPA and be involved in activities on internal security operations and
What if PMSGT/ DR JOHN BARBONIO did not do a heroic deed that night to save a mother and her child?
Further, I was so much touched me when Sir/ Dr. John Barbonio further explained why he has a
special care deep compassion and respect to women? It”s because he said, “ My mother is a woman and
God blesses every woman as the Woman feeds the earth with Humanity, She carries Life in her womb
like the Chalice in the Sanctuary that carries the very body and soul of Jesus the Son of Man.
Salute to our very own PMSGT/ Dr. JOHN B. Barbonio and CONGRATULATIONS!
