THE USE OF FACTSTORMING WEB AS AN INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGY TO


IMPROVE PUPIL PERFORMANCE IN INFERRING BODY STRUCTURES THAT
HELP ANIMALS ADAPT AND SURVIVE IN THEIR PARTICULAR HABITAT

I. Rationale

Educators around the globe consider Science as “not simply a collection of facts.

It is a discipline of thinking about rational solutions to problems after establishing the

basic facts derived from observations. Teachers find ways of instructions hypothesizing

from what is known to what might be and then attempting to test the hypothesis,

logical thinking must come first; the facts can come later while Knowledge, Process

Skills and Attitudes. Knowledge is sometimes labeled as the products of science. In

general refers to facts, concepts, principles, laws, and theories. Process skills are the

empirical and analytic procedures used by scientists in solving problems.

It is the big challenge to every teacher on how to impart knowledge using simple

but effective strategy.

Miranda (2011) suggests that graphic organizers are an effective reading

comprehension intervention for the ELL with LD and ELL participants. Positive teacher

perception of the intervention is also reported.

Research Questions

The study will attempt to determine strategy that help will improve pupil

performance in inferring body structures that help animals adapt and survive in their

particular habitat.

1. What is the pre-test performance of grade 6 pupils in inferring body

structures that help animals adapt and survive in their particular habitat?

2. What is the post-test performance of grade 6 pupils using the factstorming

web strategy in inferring body structures that help animals adapt and survive

in their particular habitat?

II. Proposed Innovation, Intervention, and Strategy

“Technology Integration Program in Science” In order to improve academic


performance of Grade 6 pupils in Science subject a “Technology Integration Program
in Science” at Calixto Loyola Sr. Integrated School will be conducted in the New
Normal education.
Teacher will prepare a recorded weekly demonstration lesson activity in
science subject area. The recorded demonstration lesson will be sent via messenger
to the pupils with gadgets.

IV. Action Research Method

A. Sampling

The respondents of this study involve the total population of Grade 6

pupils in Science of Calixto Loyola Sr. Integrated School in the District of Sigma,

Division of Capiz.

C. Ethical Issues

The researcher may encounter difficulty on accessing research

participants and engaging with pupils with positive and respectful ways.
