I. Course Title: CONTEMPORARY PHILIPPINE ARTS FROM THE REGIONS

II. Time Allotment: 4 hours per week; First and Second Quarter (First Semester)

III. Pre-requisite: None

IV. Course Description:       

The subject covers various contemporary arts practices of the region where the school is
located. It aims to provide students with an appreciation of a broad range of styles in the various
disciplines with consideration on their elements and principles, and engage them to an integrative
approach in studying arts. Through this subject, students will broaden and acquire the necessary
creative tools that open opportunities in pursuing their individual career goals and aspirations.

V. Course Objectives:

At the end of the semester, the students are expected to manifest the following
competencies:
1. Identifies various contemporary art forms and their practices from the various regions
2. Classifies various art forms found in the Philippines
3. Defines contemporary arts in the Philippines
4. Researches on various contemporary art forms
5. Explains Filipino artists’ roles and identify their contribution to contemporary arts
6. Evaluates contemporary art forms based on the elements and principles
7. Compares forms of arts from the different regions
8. Interprets and relates the significance of arts forms from the regions
9. Promotes arts from the regions
10. Researches on techniques and performance practices applied to contemporary arts
11. Identifies local materials used in creating art
12. Critiques available materials and appropriate techniques
13. Justifies the use of materials and the application of techniques
14. Conceptualizes contemporary art based on techniques and performance practices in
their locality.
15. Applies artistic skills and techniques in the process of creation
16. Incorporates contemporary characteristics to one’s creation with attention to detail
17. Creates the intended final product using appropriate materials for the best possible
output
