Position: Sr. QA/QC Inspector(Coating, welding)
Monitoring and checking the Blasting and Painting activities (prior/after) to ensure that the
quality of workmanship is in accordance with the project specification, ITP , method statement
& international standards.
Giving essential guidelines or adequate trainings related to method of good surface preparation,
paint/coating application to blaster/ painter & also to supervisor/foremen on every day to
improve the quality.
Check field/in-house calibration of the measuring & testing equipment/instruments.
Use of advance measuring & testing instruments as per recommended specification.
Verifies all equipments where Blasting/Paintings are not necessary to be masked out.
Monitor decreasing and high pressure fresh water wash to be carried out as necessary.
Verifies weld defects, steel defects and all surfaces irregularities to be remove before start of
surface preparation.
Daily monitoring of environmental/weather condition RH, steel temperature, Air temperature,
Dew point temperature, wind speed, illumines level.
Monitor of compressive air pressure, air quality, blaster’s safety to Dadman handle and
compatibility of blasting nozzle size to air compressor unit.
Know about factors effecting to surface preparation & coating application
Monitor blow down of spent abrasives and materials.
Inspecting the coating application and wet film thickness.
Monitor and ensure over coating intervals between each coat of paint.
Check the TDS , MSDS , PPE ,recommended DFT & WFT ,tip size, application method, stripe
coat , hard to reach area , over coat interval, mixing ratio , pot life, induction time , wind speed ,
stripe coat , weld defect / critical welds ,paint / thinner batch no. , grade of paint/thinner ,
allowable thinner % ,dry/curing time , well ventilation space , no of coats required to achieve
total DFT , coating system , pump ratio , theoretical & particle coverage , self-life (material
expire date) , VOC regulation , color coding , packing & shipping information , flash point ,
volume of solid (solid content), safety cautions during application .
Monitor and ensure the paint materials should be storage in good condition or as per
manufacturer recommendation.
Proper paint mixing ratio & application method as per manufacturer recommendation.
Coating/painting faults / failure analysis.
Verify after coating the required dry film thickness.
Check coating curing test as per standard (if required).
Monitor performance of Blaster and Painter at site.
Raising punch lists for incomplete works.
Preparation of daily production & daily inspection report as per project specification.
Preparation of NCR if required.
Ensure that necessary inspections are carried out as per the applicable specification or approved
ITP.
Check that adequate and proper repair of all defects has been undertaken.
Check paint/coating color, appearances/glossy, and shade uniformity.
Lead a team of Blasters & Painters and daily monitoring of on-site safety.
Conduct randomly toolbox talks with all your staff as well as monitoring your individual
supervisors pre-start meetings randomly.
NDT
Reviewing the NDE Procedures, ITPs Project specifications and preparation of NDE test plans as
per relevant code and project specifications.

Hands on Inspection / Witness / Review of Non Destructive Tests as per AWS D1.5 (Edition: 2008)
and project specification.
Ensuring the NDT inspections are completed in accordance with the requirements defined in test
procedures.
Generating PAUT standardized weldment inspection scan plans depicting established weld joint
design for different welds.
Review weld preparation drawing overlay to ensure overlay on S-scan is representative of the weld
joint.
Hands on inspection with PAUT equipment Omni Scan-MX & MX2 for various welds in bridge
structure as per project specification & relevant International Standards.
Analysis of recorded data utilizing advance electronic evaluation software (i.e. Tomo View).
Generating PAUT reports.
Hands on inspection using Ultrasonic and Magnetic Particle Testing at various fabrication stages of
bridge structure as per project specification & AWS D.5 Edition: 2008.
Keep track record of the performance of all NDT inspections to improve the quality.
Record information & report to the Lead QA-Inspector and generating online data.
Generating green tags for welds after completion of all NDT and final visual inspections.
WELDING
Carrying out the welding inspection before, during and after welding operation as per approved
test plan, relevant engineering drawing, TBTA special provisions and AWS D1.5, Edition: 2008).
Checked Welding essential parameters such as Voltage, Amperage, Travel Speed, Gas flow rate
and applicable welding positions were checked and verified with approved WPS.
Witness mechanical tests such as tensile test, charpy impact test, bend test, hardness and macro
examinations.
Witness various joint fit-up ant tack welding as per approved engineering drawing.
Witness the following manufacturing stages such as U-Rib plate cutting, edge milling, beveling, U-
Rib forming, joint fit-up, automatic tack welding, pre heating and robotic welding.
Verifying structure dimensions at various stages of fabrication as per TBTA dimensional control
plans and applicable international standard.
Monitoring preheat and post heat treatment of Non-FCM materials as per approved test plans.
Reviewing the vendor documents related to the project & ensuring compliance with the contractual
requirements to control the total quality of bridge structure.
Carried out visual inspections of all completed welds to meet the requirements of AWSD1.5 and
TBTA special provisions.
Generating inspection reports.
