1973.05 Established Buhmwoo and constructed a factory in
Bupyeong (Started to do anti-rusting oil business for the
first time in Korea)
1975.06 Formed an organization dedicated to research in Buhmwoo

Cutting & Grinding Oils


Cutting work is to make a shape that people want by
trimming unnecessary parts of material with hard knife
harder than the material, and grinding work is to finish the
surface of material, which is ground by abrasive particles in
a grinding wheel. Cutting and grinding oils are used to
prevent tools from damage, to preserve facilities, and to get
top-quality products by enabling appropriate cooling and
lubrication.

Features
Use of multi-functional materials based on the top
synthesizing technology enables to solve the existing
problems such as unstable emulsion, bubbling, short
lifetime, rust, etc. They are economical and efficient because
of long-term use without being affected by the hardness of
material or water. Furthermore, they are eco-friendly and
not harmful to humans due to the decay-free feature in spite
of no preservatives used.

Cleaning Oils

Cleaning Oils
After cutting, forming, rolling, etc. end, the following
processes are painting, coating and assembling. Cleaning
oils are used to remove used pollutants (process oils)
remaining in processed materials. They are classified into
solvent type and water-soluble alkali type according to the
amount and status of pollutants.

Features
Buhmwoo’s cleaning oils have excellent cleaning power
because of the use of special alcohol surfactant and
complex degreaser, minimize the amount of bubbles in
using a high-pressure washer, and prevent the
reattachment of oil, fine dust and ground powder, leading to
keep the cleanness of processed materials.

In case of metals, their physical and chemical properties
may be changed by a heating and/or cooling method. Heat-
treatment is a thermal process of using such properties of
metals. To increase the strength of metals, it needs a heat-
treatment process through a cooling medium which is heat-
treatment oil.

Water-insoluble/soluble heat treatment oil has three cooling steps when cooling hot metal; vapor barrier, boiling, and

3. Additives for Rolling Process


There are several additives for rolling process; Pickling inhibitor (acid pickling Inhibitor) that prevents over-pickling and
improves the color of PO by decreasing the speed of corrosion on iron during pickling process, pickling accelerator that
increases the speed of pickling by accelerating the speed of removing scale, and carbon deposit inhibitor that prevents steel
carbon deposit during BAF annealing process after degreasing.

5. Skinpass Fluids, Temper Fluids

Skin pass rolling oils are used for temper rolling, which finishes the surface of annealed steel sheet or hot-dip galvanized
steel sheet through roll of required roughness. These oils have good washing and anti-rust for the lubrication and the
coefficient of friction proper to each process. According to its characteristics, the skin pass rolling oils are classified into CR
(cold rolled strip) skin pass oils and CG (galvanized strip) skin pass oils.

Forming Oils
When external force is applied to an object, its shape is deformed while
tension occurs. If the force is small, the shape of the object will return to its
original. However, if the force exceeds certain level, the shape is not recovered
and plastic deformation is created. This property is called plasticity. The
process of a material using this property is called plastic deformation.

Features

2. Press Process

Press process is called stamping. It indicates all processes such as shearing, bending, deeping drawing, which is used to
create a container by putting into a die hole with punch, stretch expand, which is molded on a curved surface by applying
surface pressure on a board, forging, and extrusion. In this press, its friction conditions such as surface pressure, friction
surface temperature, and surface area increase rate between tool and material surface are not more severe than those of
warm forging, drawing, and extrusion, but this process has larger surface area against product volume than those
processes. Thus, if lubrication condition is not proper, this process may cause the damage of a material or metal mold.

4. Quick Dry Stamping Process

Quick dry stamping process is a punching process that makes holes of a fixed size for non-ferrous metals
such as silicon steel plat, electroplated steel sheet, Al, and cooper plate. The conditions that should be met for
each use are described as follows:
•For silicon steel plat : Requires good punching, dryness, annealing, and anti-rust, low smell and skin irritation, and high
flash point.
•For galvanized steel sheet : Requires no white rust and good degreasing.
•For cooper (alloy) : Requires no corrosion and discoloration, and good annealing.
•For aluminum (alloy) : Requires no white rust and good machinability.

6. Copper Hot Rolling


Copper and copper alloy hot rolling is normally performed at 800 - 900℃ At the time, the temperature of a roll reaches
750 - 850℃, and the roll cooling and the lubrication and scale removal between roll and plate are very important.
Copper hot rolling oil prevents sliding and abrasion between roll and plate, and it should be designed considering the
quality improvement of rolling mill and wire surface.
