1. Why do you think the society readily accepts the benefits of science and technology even
though negative results also come out from them? 5 points

We all know that every invention by science and technology had its solution on how to
fix that invention again to be more convenient and innovative. The society accepts the
benefits of science and technology because they know by themselves that even it had a
negative outcome and it can literally fix by its science and technology itself. And we also
accepts it because we recognize that good and bad outcome are typically a matter of choice
and discretion in use. Much of all technology can be used for good purposes, but we
sometimes choose to manifest these for bad purposes to make it had a negative result.

2. How is science and technology affecting the growth of a nation? 5 points

Science and technology, improves the productivity of workers, leading to higher profits
for businesses, and higher GDP for the country. Communication and transportation
technology enable globalization, leading to higher trade. Higher trade leads to greater
freedom of choice for consumers, and lower costs for products and services for consumers.
Science and technology also leads to higher wages for high skilled workers.

3. As a student of STS, how can you be a guardian of the society? Cite concrete examples.
10 points

If we want to do more, there's a lot that we can do even as a student. The first thing that I
will do is to study hard and finish your Bachelor's Degree. Because the sooner you get your
professional qualifications, the sooner you can contribute to society in a positive way.
Second is, spend time regularly with orphans and street children. Encourage them. Be their
friends. Share my resource and knowledge with them. Help them to grow. Third is, Meet
people from villages that live below poverty line and has very minimal needs to be happy.
Lastly is, Maintain calm composed happy and forgiving attitude while dealing with conflicts.
In other words, be a happier and complete human being and spread that happiness around.

4. What is science is in your own words. 5 points

Science is a way of learning about the world through observing what’s happening,
creating an idea of what’s going on, testing your idea as much as you are physically able, and
revising it if your results from the test don’t match what you originally came up with.

5. What is technology is in your own words. 5 points

Technology is used to deliver perfection in every field of life, like in early days cycle is
used for travelling but now a days four wheelers becomes an integral part of our life for
travelling as they makes our day to day life comfortable and hence increases working
efficiency.

6. Discuss your own example of low, medium, and high technology. 10 points

Low Technology
- Papers are one of the technology that is being in line with Low Technology because
papers don’t require much training, and it is less expensive and they do not have
complex or mechanical features. It is designed to be as simple as possible. Most of
these are present in most classrooms and we are unaware that we even
provide these accommodations.

Medium Technology
- Audio Books are one of the example in line with Medium Technology. This second
stage are the technologies that are least common form. As technology continues to
grow, we are seeing less and less of this Audio Books or even other medium
technologies being implemented in a room.

High Technology
- Computers are one of the high technology that is famous in today’s reality because of
the online classes that students undergo. In this high technology, this is what we
consider as “sabay sa uso” things. Computers are one of the most intense and
expensive form of technology.

Every invention had a purpose, anything new you could develop that can fulfill the
purpose of your task or make the task more efficient is invention. Inventions are important for
driving technological and human progress. We have many gadgets and technologies that make
our lives easier. For example, imagine your life without the fridge or washing machine - simple
things. It would be hard to store certain foods at home and do the washing with hands. After
these things were designed and distributed - life became a little easier. Let’s assume that easy
and happy life is more preferred than a hard and miserable one. With this, any invention is an
attempt to reduce misery and deliver partial easiness. This is why it's important.
