Argumentative Essay on Queen Emma of Hawaii

Queen Emma was an extremely likable, extraordinary woman who was kind

natured and cared for others dearly. She helped the people of Hawaii by improving their

health and access to healthcare. At this time the people that lived in the state of Hawaii

did not have much reliable or affordable places to go while in need. She did this by

figuring out a way to provide these resources for them. Queen Emma helped her people

of Hawaii's wellbeing by founding Queen Emma's Land Company, Queens Medical

center, the St. Cross school and helped build St. Andrews cathedral.

Queen Emma's efforts to help the people of Hawaii lead to co-confounding

Queens medical center on Oahu with King Kamehameha. This hospital was founded at

a time when multiple epidemics were around the island. This was when the race of

native hawaiians were in danger due to new diseases being brought over from other

civilizations. Queen Emma's likeable and persuasive personality helped convince Native

Hawaiian people to donate to help establish all of this. Queen Emma as well as King

Kamehameha both strongly supported this idea of the hospital so they worked hard to

make it a reality.

She also was the founder of the Queen Emmas Land Company. This company is

a public foundation located in Honolulu, Hawaii. This organization was founded in 1979

and it is a non-profit organization that assists in providing healthcare to support Queen's

medical center. This company is able to do this by helping out with life insurance and

bequests.

Queen Emma also helped develop the St. Andrews Cathedral and St. Cross

school. To come up with the money to build the cathedral Queen Emma went to
England to raise funds for architects to design it. The cathedral was made up of cutting

stone. The St. Cross school was established to give girls “the very best in Christian

culture” she also wanted these young women to be prepared to nurse the sick and

injured. The Queen's virtuous efforts to help the next generation of native hawaiian girls

was important and paid off.

Queen Emma of Hawaii's kind efforts; such as founding Queens Land Company,

Queens Medical Center, The St. Cross school and helping build the St. Andrews

cathedral has helped the people of Hawaii's wellbeing. Her actions made a huge impact

and helped save many lives. Many years later her hospital and foundation is still in

action which shows that what she did made a difference. Queen Emma was a very

important woman who impacted and saved the lives of many Native Hawaiian people in

a time of need.
