Premise: One of the main problems of the classroom is poor behavior among students.
Compassion for others, good communication skills, empathy and good relationship with
classmates are required for students to create a positive character.

On point: Discuss why empathy is necessary for individuals to build up a trusted and
friendly relationship among others.

The term “empathy” is used to describe a wide range of experiences.

Emotion researchers generally define empathy as the ability to sense other
people’s emotions, coupled with the ability to imagine what someone else
might be thinking or feeling. Empathy is a word that is used often by many
people. It's commonly known that empathy is a good thing to have, but it isn't
always a priority in people's lives

An important part of empathy is the ability to trust and be trusted. As trust builds,
there will be more sharing of information, feelings, and opinions. The more that is shared
the easier it is to relate to one another and have empathy for another. One of the most
effective ways for someone to become empathic is for them to be trained as children.
Empathy is a part of education known as "emotional intelligence." Teaching children to
think of the way that other people feel is a good way of helping them develop empathy.

If a child hurts another child or teases them, it's helpful to ask the child how they
think they made the other one feel. You can ask them how they would feel if someone
had treated them that way.
I know that not all of us knows how to handle circumstances and we don’t know
how to show our empathy to the people but I’ll share you some thoughts to ponder in
showing our empathy, compassion to the people by aacknowledging their pain. Perhaps
the best thing you can do is to acknowledge how the other person feels. Share how you
feel and show gratitude that the person opened up. At the same time show interest, be
encouraging and be supportive. I think listening to others is a very good way of
developing empathy. When we take the time to listen to the things that other people-
especially those who are close to us- are telling us it is an easy way of understanding
how they think and feel.

Listening is best achieved when we set aside our own thoughts and opinions and
carefully think about what another person is saying. Empathy begins when you set the
intention of listening for emotion. Make an effort to notice the signals people are giving
that can indicate what they are feeling. Making an effort to actively listen can help
strengthen your emotional understanding and empathy.

But, I will share my experience which I feel at some point greater guilt. What you
see your students do and hear they say, influences your perception of them and that’s
the way I treated them. In a classroom of mine, full of students, it’s natural to react to
students based on those outward behaviors—but I really don’t know what’s behind their
situation. It’s human nature to focus on how a student’s negative behavior takes time
away from teaching and affects your classroom. When you are charged with managing
behavior in addition to teaching content, it’s easy to overlook what’s happening with the
student and focus on what’s happening to you as the teacher.

If we show empathy, it can help us change that dynamic, so you not only
acknowledge and consider what you see and feel, but also what you don’t see. Those
unseen challenges could include learning and thinking differences. But other struggles,
such as trauma or hunger, may also be involved. In other words, empathy is about finding
a way to connect and to be able to say, “I want to understand how this feels to you and
let you know that you’re not alone.”

Just that small change in approach can make a big difference in what a student
hears and feels, and how willing he is to keep working on things that are difficult for him.
