[Answer any four of the following five questions. Figure in the right hand margin indicates full marks]
Q.1 a) What is structure? What are the basic differences between displacement method 2+3
and force method of analysis of indeterminate structure?
b) Analyze the continuous beam shown in figure 1(b) by slope deflection method, 20
for a 15mm settlement of support B, E= 200 X 106 kN/m2,I = 400 X 10-6

Q.2 a) Analyze the continuous beam shown in figure 2(a) by slope deflection method. 25
Draw the shear force diagram, bending moment diagram and also the elastic curve
for the following structure

using flexibility method. The cross sectional area of each vertical member is 25 cm ,
horizontal member is 20 cm2 , diagonal member is 10cm2.

Q.4 A frame is to be constructed in a hilly area loaded as shown in figure Q.4.The owner 25
wants to know the effect of applied loading on the frame. In order to know it you are
asked by the consultant to analyze it using slope deflection method. After analyzing
the frame comment on the result of the response.
