Introduction

BlackGold bank is a multinational financial institution (FI) with presence in more

than 80 countries around the globe. Over time, it has added multiple financial
products, and to support those products, multiple applications have been
developed without considering the possibility of reusing the existing application
portfolio.

Challenges

The Applications of BlackGold have little reusability across its financial products.
There is no management information system (MIS). In a meeting with the board
of directors, it is decided that

 The Product catalog should be rationalized, and there should be a

harmonized product catalog across countries.

 There should be a management information system for on demand data

availability for BI (Business Intelligence) and advance analytics.

The CIO is the sponsor of the projects. BlackGold bank has decided to use TOGAF
for enterprise architecture. You are the chief architect of BlackGold bank. How
can you address the concerns of the board of directors?

Solution

First, you need to conduct a series of business scenario to understand different

products and how they can be harmonized or streamlined.

You need to identify major stakeholders and their influences so that their
concerns and suggestions are taken into consideration. Next, you should develop
a stakeholder map and identify and engage the key stakeholders to take a
decision on streamlining the product catalog. Based on the outcome, you can
identify the target solution and perform gap analysis.

For the second concern, you have to define business architecture for the MIS with
a process/event/control/status mechanism and role catalog. You should describe
the data architecture, application/data matrix, data security diagram, and finally,
the application architecture with an Interface catalog.
