Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it is also known as the Global Goals,


adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, their main motive was to end
poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are 17 goals with 169
targets that all 191 UN Member States have agreed to try to achieve by the year 2030.

The following are the 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) to transform our world:
GOAL 1: No Poverty
GOAL 2: Zero Hunger
GOAL 3: Good Health and Well-being
GOAL 4: Quality Education
GOAL 5: Gender Equality
GOAL 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
GOAL 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
GOAL 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
GOAL 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
GOAL 10: Reduced Inequality
GOAL 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
GOAL 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
GOAL 13: Climate Action
GOAL 14: Life Below Water
GOAL 15: Life on Land
GOAL 16: Peace and Justice Strong Institutions
GOAL 17: Partnerships to achieve the Goal

The SDGs are extremely important because they are a powerful provision platform to


support the execution and the monitoring of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons
with Disabilities.

Sustainable development can also be defined as the development that meets the needs


of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own
needs (UN Brundtland Commission). So, from the definition it clearly portrays that the
the next generation of people to have access to quality life.
