Summary:
Centennial College has recently purchased a “plagiarism detection” tool to assist students and
faculty with their research and documentation skills. “Turn Them In” will be installed in all
classrooms and labs across the college and on the desk computers of all faculty and academic
managers. It will be launched across the college on Monday, April 2 nd 2012.
Background:
Several colleges and universities in Toronto, specifically, Humber, Seneca, the University of
Toronto, York and Ryerson, currently use “Turn Them In” and have recommended it to
Centennial. They have assured us that the $750 000 cost of the product has value for both
students and staff.
Facts:
To assist all faculty and academic managers in using the product before it is implemented, the
Student Success Department has arranged a series of professional development sessions. At this
time, Digital Dropbox, a part of the eCentennial learning platform, will be introduced for those
not currently using it, as all student submissions to “Turn Them In” will be processed through
Dropbox.
Training sessions for the faculty and managers will take place during the college Winter
Break – March 5 to 9 in engineering lab A3-12.
The training will be scheduled daily, at hourly intervals, from 9:00 to 3:00 on a first-
come, first served basis.
Student training will be offered on-line through the Centennial College Student
Association Incorporated (CCSAI).
Action/ Contact:
Take the training and take advantage of this very useful program. If you have any questions
about “Turn Them In,” the training, or Digital Dropbox, please contact our department by email
