FOR THE PARENTS
Summer Vacations are here. A few vital suggestions are listed
below to make the vacations more exciting and fruitful than ever
before:

◆ Keep at least half an hour a day for sharing experiences

with your child.
◆ Tell your child different stories regularly and encourage
him/her to describe what he/she would do in a similar
situation. Here are few suggested authors you can read
with your child. (Roald Dahl, Rudyard Kipling)
◆ Have them practice the 3-digit addition and subtraction
with and without regrouping regularly.
◆ Encourage your child to relate the real life situations to
the Math concepts taught and create their own story sums
to solve.
◆ Restrict his or her television watching, confining it to
interesting children’s programs, cartoon films, Discovery
channel etc.
◆ Make him/her understand the importance of cleaning his
room and putting away toys and belongings after use.
◆ Take your child out for picnics and to other places of his/
her interest. Ask him/her to make a note of all the places
he/ she visits and the things he/she sees so that he/she
is able to discuss his/her experience in class after the
vacation
◆ Your child will be allotted subject enrichment marks on basis
of the holiday homework. Have a nice time!

Numbers! Numbers! Everywhere!

Students will create a number journal using a variety of ways to

record the numbers they find in their everyday lives. This number

can be found in the classroom, somewhere else at school, at home,

in the neighbourhood, at the store, wherever they can find a

number! Any number they find will become the “number of the

day.” They will record their findings and show that number in a

variety of ways. “My Number of the Day” could be a one-time

activity or something they can do again and again with a new

number over several days.
