1 Introduction
6 Run the OpenLAB Content Management Installer, and review the PDFs in
the Installer Planning and Resources menus before you install the software.
Under the Installer Planning menu:
• Hardware and Software Requirements - Use this PDF to determine if your
hardware and software will support the system.
• Installation Guide - Use this PDF to review the procedure for installing and
setting up OpenLAB Content Management Server systems as well as
OpenLAB Content Management Client systems.
• Release Notes (readme) - Use this PDF to review the release notes for the
current release of OpenLAB Content Management.
Under the Installer Documentation menu:
• License Agreement - Use this PDF to review the license terms.
• Declaration of Software Quality - Use this PDF to review the Declaration of
Software Validation for OpenLAB Content Management.

2 Set Up the Windows Server
2 Check for Windows updates and apply all critical security updates.
3 Join an existing domain or set up the system in workgroup mode. Changing
the server domain after the installation requires direct consultation with
Agilent Support.

3 Click Change settings. For Important updates, select Never check for updates.
Disable the other update options.
4 Click OK.

(Simplified PRC), or Japanese (Japan).

access, .NET Framework 3.5 will not install. For more details, see:

To ensure that all the net.tcp components are properly initialized, non-http
activation must be enabled. Expand .NET Framework 3.5, and select Windows
Communication Foundation Non-HTTP Activation.

2 Select the OpenLAB Content Management software that you want to install
from the list.
3 Click OK.
4 Enter the Contact Information.

5 Select Go > Start to begin the software check. A summary report is displayed
showing the results for each check category. Results are expressed as Pass,
Warning, Critical Warning, or Fail.
Fail results must be corrected before continuing with the installation.
Agilent recommends investigating and correcting any Critical Warnings and
Warnings whenever possible before proceeding.
To view details of the report, select the appropriate link: System Hardware
Details or Operating System and Software Details.
6 Select Go > Save Report.
7 Select File > Exit, and click Yes.
8 Click Cancel.
9 Send the saved report to your Agilent Service Representative for evaluation
and validation of your personal computer for Agilent Software Systems
Installs.
Record and store the selections that you use during this installation in
CAUTION

system in the unlikely case of your system becoming inoperable due to
a hardware or software failure.
2 Oracle Database Server and Microsoft SQL Server must be installed prior to
the OpenLAB Content Management installation.
If you plan to install the database on a separate server, ensure that the
required ports are open on the firewall and that the users have the required
access and privileges. See Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL support
documentation for configuring Windows Authentication for these
databases.
Only a PostgreSQL version previously installed by OpenLAB software can
be used. If PostgreSQL is not currently installed or was not installed by
OpenLAB software, you can install it through the OpenLAB Content
Management Prerequisite Installer.
Select the database type, and click Next.
If you select PostgreSQL Server, continue to step 3 on page 29.
If you select Oracle Database Server or Microsoft SQL Server, continue to step 4
on page 30.
Enter the Installation and Database location paths, enter and confirm the
superuser password, and click Next.
4 Click Install.
6 Click Finish.

prerequisites" on page 27 will be selected.

It is recommended that you keep the default Database User.

• The Content Management Storage Path must be a disk or volume with a
large free disk space to meet your requirements.
• The Content Management Index Path should be placed on a fast disk for the
best performance.
8 Click Validate to check your entries. If UNC paths are used, you must
manually validate your path. Validate will not check if the user has read and
write access to the UNC path.
9 Review the server configuration summary, and click Apply.
10 When the configuration is complete, click Done.

4 Enter the user’s Full Name, Email, and Contact Information if desired. The full
name is used in activity log entries and the welcome message at the lower
right of the Control Panel.
2 Search within your domain or local computer, and add users to the list of
authenticated OpenLAB users. The user's domain password will be required
to log in to Control Panel.
3 Click OK.

4 Enter a search value and click Search to view a list of users and groups in
your system.

Gather the following information from the lavender envelope containing your
Software Entitlement Certificate. If you have not received a lavender envelope,
contact your vendor or internal support.
• The authorization code label
• The URL for SubscribeNet
If you are already registered with SubscribeNet, skip to the section, Generate
your license.
1 From any computer with Internet access, enter the SubscribeNet URL in an
Internet browser.
2 Click click HERE to register.
3 Enter the authorization code from the label, and complete the profile
information. The email address you enter will be your login ID.
4 Click Submit.
An account name is generated and displayed. The system will also send an
email message with the following information:
• Account name
• Login ID
• Password
• A link to access your license pool at the SubscribeNet site
5 When the system generates the license, click Download License File and save
the license file to your computer and to a backup location (such as a
portable storage device).
3 Click Browse.
4 Navigate to and select the license file (on CD, USB, or network folder), and
click Open.

2 Read the terms of the License Agreement. The Client Installation Wizard
provides a printable PDF of the license agreement under the Documentation
option of the main menu.
3 Select I agree with the terms and conditions. You cannot proceed with the
installation until you agree to these terms.
4 Click Next.
5 Type the folder name or browse to the folder where you want to store the
application components, and click Next.
6 Enter your server name and click Test Connection, and then click Next.

7 Run an Installation Verification after Software Installation
Use this procedure if your system is completely installed, and you want to
verify that your system has been built and installed correctly and that all
design specifications have been met.
2 Select products to qualify, and click Qualify. The system will run the
application and generate a Software Verification Report. If the report
indicates failure, verify the computer requirements, and reinstall the data
system. Do not use the system until the Software Verification Report gives a
pass result.

OpenLAB Content Management Uninstaller.

3 From the Server Installation screen, click Step 3 - Install or Upgrade the
OpenLAB Content Management.
4 Click Repair to start the repair. All listed components are automatically
repaired. To abort the repair, click Cancel.
5 When the repair has finished, click Finish to close the Repair Wizard.
