The following text is for questions 31 to 33
High mountain barriers, cold ocean currents and high pressure systems
cause the deserts to remain dry.
When warm air passes over the ocean, it picks up moisture in the form of
water vapor. As this moist air travels over the land, it rises to pass over
mountain ranges. When it begins to rise, the air cools and this causes the water
vapor to condense into droplets which fall as rain. When the air reaches the
other side of the mountain barrier, it has lost all its moisture and so the other
side of the mountain remains dry.
Air passing over cold ocean currents is cooled and therefore is unable to
pick up and hold much moisture. When this cold air mass reaches the warm
desert, any moisture in the air is evaporated and, it does not fall as rain. So the
desert remains dry.
In a high pressure system, the air is dry and is moving downwards. As
this system moves over the land, it draws the moisture from the land surface.
Consequently, the moisture does not fall as rain and so the desert remains dry.
31. What is the text about?
A. Why desert remains dry.
B. How moisture falls as rain.
C. Why the air becomes cool.
D. How the air is evaporated into moisture.
E. How the moist air vapors on the mountain barriers.
32. What happens when the moist air rises and passes the mountain ranges?
A. The high pressure system change them into droplets.
B. The cool air makes it condensed and fall as rain.
C. The cold ocean currents suck them again.
D. The air cycle begins and ends in rain.
E. It loses all its moisture.
33. “As this moist air travels over the land, it rises to pass over the mountain ranges.”
(paragraph
two). What does the underlined word refer to?
A. Warm air.
B. Ocean.
C. Moist air.
D. Cool air.
E. Water vapor.

The substitution of “West” in our name---replacing “Cianjur”---is the
result of an agreement we reached with Cianjur Gardening Association,
following a protest over the original use of “Cianjur” in our name.
We hope this does not create any confusion among our loyal consumers.
While this represents a change from our initial name introduction, it does
not change the quality of products we offer to our consumers.
41. “The substitution of “West” in our name …”
The word “substitution” is closest in meaning to ….
