the end of first quarter?!?! Time is flying by, but we are making the most of it in Kindergarten! I was so impressed by the effort and pride each scholar put into their book reports last week. As the year progresses, I will adapt the book reports to include more complex ideas and elements. A big thank you goes out to the families that helped scholars com- plete their reports! In math, I would like to see each scholar count to 100 fluently by the end of December. Now that we have a solid foundation in numbers from 0-10, we will move on to numbers up to 20. Can we do it? YES WE CAN! The scholars took a huge step on their journey to reading last week! We began forming three-letter words from a few of the phonograms we have learned (such as map, tap, rap, sat, bat, cat), and I could see many light bulbs turning on! All of the scholars were excited about learning how to read! This Monday we will have a visit from Dr. Davis, who will discuss some very important leadership skills with the scholars! He will be visiting us each month to go over crucial social skills that will benefit scholars throughout their life! Homework is a wonderful tool that helps scholars strengthen and improve the skills they are learning in class. I know that it can be difficult at times to fit in homework with all of the other responsibilities and tasks busy families have. Any effort to practice reading, writing, and math is beneficial to your child, even if you are only asking them to put 5 lemons in a bag at the grocery store, or to read a letter on a bill- board! :) Keep up the great work, families! We learned about the seventh habit last weekSharpen the Saw! This habit, which reminds us to continually renew our mind, heart, body, and spirit, will help us stay happy and healthy! The scholars had a lot of suggestions for what they do to renew themselves, from playing with their siblings, to reading a story with Mom, to eating all of their fruits and vegetables! Keep reviewing and living the seven habits!
